The Challenge
Are you an experienced Backend Engineer looking to take on a leadership role in a mission-driven organization? As the Tech Lead Software Engineer at Planboo, you will architect and build scalable backend systems that power our innovative biochar solutions. You will spearhead the brainstorming and development of creative solutions to complex technical challenges, working closely with your team and cross-functional teams to drive our mission forward.
Your challenge: Lead the development of robust systems that scale our carbon removal technology globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Set the technical direction and establish best practices that enable the team to succeed in building reliable and scalable software.
- Product Development: Collaborate with the product team to continuously improve existing products and develop new features that align with our roadmap.
- Team Mentorship: Guide and support team members as the team grows, providing technical mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Integration: Collaborate with hardware teams for software-hardware integration.
- Backend Development: Architect and develop scalable backend services.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and manage containerization using Docker.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and optimize cloud resources on AWS, leveraging services like ECS, S3, RDS and Lambda.
- Microservices & Scalability: Design and implement robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Data Management: Work with relational databases(PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Security & Performance: Ensure system security, scalability, and performance optimization.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
- Experience with software development, system design, and architecture.
- Experience with developing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party API’s.
- Strong expertise in AWS and cloud-native tools.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and modern software design patterns for scalable and maintainable systems
- Experience in managing containerization using Docker.
- Knowledge of security frameworks for user and service authentication and authorization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for mission-driven work.
- Having taken on a leadership role in a project or team setting.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience with headless CMS platforms.
- Familiarity with BI integration tools (such as Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker).
- Knowledge in serverless architecture.
- Experience with hardware or IoT-integrated solutions.
- Experience with carbon removal projects, embedded systems, or working in international, mission-driven teams.
