The Challenge
Are you a passionate software engineer eager to solve complex technical challenges while making a positive impact on the planet? As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading the development of Planboo’s software products. You'll have the chance to build, optimize, and scale our solutions, working closely with the company founders to drive innovation. Your role will include leading full-stack development efforts, mentoring future team members, and ensuring the software aligns with Planboo’s strategic objectives.
Your challenge: Build scalable, high-performing software solutions that power the carbon removal revolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Development: Lead and execute the development of Planboo’s software products across both front-end and back-end systems.
- Technical Leadership: Set and implement the technical strategy, design software architecture, and establish best practices for the development team.
- Product Development: Collaborate with the product team to continuously improve existing products and develop new features that align with our roadmap.
- Team Mentorship: Guide and support team members as the team grows, providing technical mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Integration with Hardware Products: Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless software-hardware integration, enhancing the performance of Planboo’s biochar technology.
- User Feedback & Testing: Conduct user testing, gather feedback from field users, and implement improvements based on real-world experiences.
- Scalability & Performance: Design systems that are robust, scalable, and capable of handling increased user demand as we grow.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the founders and other departments to align software solutions with Planboo’s business goals.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of full-stack development experience with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js, ideally with knowledge of React/React Native for front-end development.
- Expertise in cloud platforms, especially AWS, including services like EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
- Strong experience in building scalable software architecture with a deep understanding of microservices, serverless, and monolithic designs.
- Proven ability to lead software projects from concept to deployment, including experience with version control (Git/GitHub), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker).
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Dynamo).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience integrating software with hardware products.
- Bonus Points: Experience with carbon removal projects, embedded systems, or working in international, mission-driven teams.
