The role & the team:
Outrider is a company that aims to enable autonomous vehicles for yard operation by solving exciting challenges. Data plays a central role in achieving our goals, and improving and expanding our data platform is critical to success.
Perception Data is scaling our Data Platform by which we will monitor model performance, identify weak points, source data to fill performance gaps, train, and repeat. If scaling and building critical pieces of a data platform sounds exciting, come and join us!
We are currently looking for a highly skilled Data Engineer who will work closely with other Autonomy and Robotics teams to build and maintain tools and infrastructure to support the development of autonomous yard operation solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data concepts and tools, be responsible for expanding and maintaining our data tools and infrastructure suite, and have a keen interest in robotics and ML.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Autonomy and Robotics teams to ensure we are collecting the correct data to meet solution needs.
- Build scalable, testable, maintainable data pipelines.
- Build and maintain cloud infrastructure to help scale data processing.
- Proactively suggest ways for the team to leverage new technologies and architectures to improve the performance of our data platform.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and MLOps.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of production level experience in software engineering
- Highly proficient with Python and SQL.
- Solid foundation knowledge of relational databases and data modeling.
- Experience with cloud providers like AWS/Azure/GCP (ideally AWS)
- Experience with orchestration platforms (Airflow, Metaflow, Argo Workflows)
- Good communication and proactivity.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with production ML systems
- Experience with robotics libraries and tools: ROS, OpenCV, PCL, Open3D
- Familiarity with deploying and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, Cloudformation, etc.)
- Experience with data processing frameworks.
