Our engineers are top-notch software developers who love listening to the users, working as a team, and proactively taking the lead whenever necessary. Our product engineers learn the business of freight forwarding, modeling the work that people do to move freight, designing solutions to make it more efficient, and thinking innovatively to automate much of it. Our infrastructure engineers work alongside our product engineers and ensure their solutions are maintainable, performant, cost efficient, and can be owned and operated by the team that built it. As an infrastructure Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, testing and maintaining critical infrastructure related systems. In addition, as a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to mentor other engineers and lead them deliver high quality results that meet customer expectations. 

You will:

• Build strong relationships with product development engineers across the organization.
• Partner with other engineers on the infrastructure team to continuously improve existing systems and processes.
• Support and converge a diverse set of development and production platforms, including Buildkite, CircleCI, Github Actions, ECS, k8s, AWS Lambdas, monoliths, microservices, local dev, remote dev, and shared dev, and more.
• Maintain awareness of the full landscape of infrastructure and developer experience tools and methodologies.
• Create a culture of transparency, information sharing, and collaboration through the development of excellent documentation, mentoring of junior team members, and living Flexport’s values.
• Participate in an oncall rotation to respond to critical incidents.

You should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience supporting product development and engineering teams in a fast-paced global environment.
• 3+ years of software development experience writing and deploying code in languages such as Ruby, Python, Kotlin, Java, or Go.
• Familiarity with developer tools including source code and artifacts management, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration automation with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, etc)
• Experience with IaaS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, containers, and service-oriented architectures.
• Excellence in problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to connect with empathy when delivering constructive feedback regarding infrastructure matters to engineers and product designers.
• Experience in Java/Spring server development a plus (e.g. Java language, Spring, Spring Security, Hibernate)
