AV Runtime team’s mission is in providing Cruise with a robust, reliable platform for deploying, launching and running software distributed over physical hardware in AVs and in various simulation environments.
Deployment services manage assigned SW & configuration profiles, download of assets, coordination of update process that comprehends dependencies between components, power & network topologies.
Launch services manage configuration of the target software, implement various consistency checks and coordinate bring up of the software stack & further transitions between various stack types & configurations.
Middleware software implements frameworks that enable Cruise engineering to develop software as nodes in a distributed system, providing efficient inter-process communication that abstracts away the complexities of hardware topologies & architectures.
Build frameworks that enable distributed execution of applications in Cruise vehicles, including Inter Process Communication layer.
Build tools that deploy, execute, and monitor autonomous vehicle code in development and production workflows
Build tools to configure Cruise software for use in a variety of configurations across simulation and hardware platforms
Integrate new platform revisions and hardware configurations into the system
Develop systems and frameworks to monitor vehicle HW/SW status and exfiltrate data
Collaborate with colleagues across multiple teams and mentor other developers
Adopt, drive and encourage best practices within the team and the rest of the organization.
Work with management to drive the technical direction of the organization
Initiate large cross team projects with sophisticated architecture, breaking it down to the right logical components and co-ordinate execution of the project with the TPMs/Managers
Improve and deliver reliable software through requirements generation, design and code reviews, continuous integration, automated testing and issue monitoring.
7+ years of experience building and shipping production-quality software, with a focus in Linux based environments
Experience with C++, Python or Go
Experience building (not just using) system configuration tools
Experience working with and building tooling for large, complex systems
A high standard and commitment to quality by designing for testability
Self motivation and passion to direct your teams, and constantly improve
Strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills. A passion to see a problem solved, regardless of the technical area or challenge where the problem lies. The desire to root-cause issues, no matter where your search may lead.
The salary range for this position is $161,200 - $237,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
