What is the role? 

As a member of the Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) engineering team, you’ll work within a small, multidisciplinary group focused on developing and maintaining software components for a fully automated orbit determination and control system that supports ICEYE’s SAR satellite fleet. This critical system underpins essential operations, from ground antenna tracking to SAR image processing and propulsion planning. In this role, you’ll work closely with software engineers and domain experts, applying your problem-solving skills to tackle new challenges, implement automated metrics for monitoring system performance, and coordinate with engineering and operations teams on satellite launches, propulsion activities, and fleet management, while also sharing your expertise across the organization.

Requirements

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in software engineering, with significant technical responsibility for at least one high-availability software service through its design, development, and operational phases
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset, with an ability to mentor junior colleagues
  • Open-minded approach to adapting to current workflows and suggesting thoughtful, incremental improvements suited to the organization’s needs

In addition, it would be beneficial if you had the following attributes and skills:

  • Experience with SAR or Optical earth observation systems
  • Experience with orbit determination or control

  • Base salary range for this position is 6000-7400€ per month (gross) contingent on your experience level, and will be negotiated individually
