The Team
The Indirect teams provide access to SEEK's employment marketplace for hirers that use third-party HR software. In simple terms, we look after API integrations. The SEEK API allows recruitment software providers to integrate with us, where we aim to provide the full value of SEEK's products and features, i.e. to post jobs, view applications, proactively source candidates, and more. Indirect's ambition is to enable easy access to SEEK's evolving products, regardless of the channel (direct or indirect) hirers use. From this, Indirect comprises two teams, Indirect Experience and Indirect Platform. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join Experience team which focuses on the experience of hirers and candidates using partner systems, with ambition to unlock SEEK's value for Indirect hirers. This includes key product offerings such as the job posting flow and application tracking.
About the role
A Senior Software Engineer is an experienced member of our SEEK Group Engineering teams. A Senior Software Engineer is a fully autonomous professional, responsible for improving the technical alignment, health and engineering practices within a team. You will develop software within product delivery/systems/platform teams, contributing to engineering quality, coaching and mentoring entry-level Software Engineers, and demonstrate passion for your craft through user centric, reliable and scalable solutions
Key Accountabilities
The following are key responsibilities that the position will be accountable for on a day-to-day basis.
Build
- Guide other engineers to build, test, deploy and maintain software from development through to production
- Improve platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficient
- Drive the development of software, strengthening current Software Engineering best practices, ensuring they are fit for purpose
- Work effectively within the team and improve existing DevOps environments
- Build and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with existing frameworks and SEEK’s technology strategy
- Troubleshoot and manage production incidents through to resolution
- Develops Cloud first software (Mobile apps if applicable
Execute
- Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns and tooling
- Improve quality and engineering discipline and strengthen team capability
- Strengthen Agile delivery rituals and practices
- Strengthen secure coding practises and tooling within team
- Actively communicate with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy
- Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection
- Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development
- Provide operational support duties, including on-call support and after-hours work as per roster

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Build
- Has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages
- Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of cloud first (AWS) applications
- Experience working with APIs
- Experience with logging and monitoring/alerting
- Demonstrated experience consistently writing well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling
- Experience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Strong experience with Design Patterns and Data Modelling
Execute
- Demonstrated experience using modern software development practices such as TestDriven Development, Behavioural Driven Development and Clean Code
- Experience providing operational support duties, including on-call support and after-hours work
- Uses data to support decision making
Support
- Experience imparting knowledge and skills to help other team members grow
Strengthen
- Experience contributing to internal or external professional communities of practice events

- • Some experience in leading individuals in a software engineering team or project setting
- • Lead the delivery of a specific technical/system/product outcome within a software delivery team
