The Team
The Online Identity Services team focuses on building our internal systems, tools and SDKs used by other SEEK Engineers, Sales and Service and Trust and Safety teams to ensure a secure authenticated experience for Candidates and Hirers across our platforms. By cultivating relationships and influencing architectural solutions and delivery approaches, we are instrumental in scaling out SEEK's Identity infrastructure.
We recently transitioned from one large team into two distinct teams, each with well-defined ownership boundaries. Despite this division, we remain close-knit, drawing strength from our diverse backgrounds and experiences. With team members spanning Australia and Malaysia, we embrace collaboration and community, readily helping and engaging in constructive design discussions to align on a path forward.
As a services team, we autonomously steer our roadmap in close collaboration with our customers - the broader SEEK engineering community. We forge our unique methodologies, blending passion with pragmatism in all endeavours.
The Role
A Senior Software Engineer is an experienced member of our SEEK Group Engineering teams. A Senior Software Engineer is a fully autonomous professional, responsible for improving the technical alignment, health and engineering practices within a team. You will develop software within product delivery/systems/platform teams, contributing to engineering quality, coaching and mentoring entry-level Software Engineers, and demonstrate passion for your craft through user centric, reliable and scalable solutions
Key Accountabilities
The following are key responsibilities that the position will be accountable for on a day-to-day basis.
Build
- Guide other engineers to build, test, deploy and maintain software from development through to production
- Improve platform health, ensuring that our systems are, reliable, resilient, and efficient
- Drive the development of software, strengthening current Software Engineering best practices, ensuring they are fit for purpose
- Work effectively within the team and improve existing DevOps environments
- Build and operate highly scalable and performant software in alignment with existing frameworks and SEEK’s technology strategy
- Troubleshoot and manage production incidents through to resolution
- Develops Cloud first software (Mobile apps if applicable
Execute
- Consistently write clean, well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns and tooling
- Improve quality and engineering discipline and strengthen team capability
- Strengthen Agile delivery rituals and practices
- Strengthen secure coding practises and tooling within team
- Actively communicate with others in an effective, timely manner with empathy
- Improve a DevOps culture through effective collaboration and regular reflection
- Improve understanding of your customers and consider their needs in all development
- Provide operational support duties, including on-call support and after-hours work as per roster
Support
- Contribute to the safety, work-life balance and well-being of other team members
- Be a key contributor to the onboarding of new hires
- Help create space for other team members to articulate different opinions/ feedback

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Build
- Has created and maintained software in two or more modern software development languages
- Experience with the design, development, support, and maintenance of cloud first (AWS) applications
- Experience working with APIs
- Experience with logging and monitoring/alerting
- Demonstrated experience consistently writing well-tested, readable software, using secure coding practices, current patterns, and tooling
- Experience applying and improving continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Strong experience with Design Patterns and Data Modelling
Execute
- Demonstrated experience using modern software development practices such as TestDriven Development, Behavioural Driven Development and Clean Code
- Experience providing operational support duties, including on-call support and after-hours work
- Uses data to support decision making
Support
- Experience imparting knowledge and skills to help other team members grow
Strengthen
- Experience contributing to internal or external professional communities of practice events
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- Some experience in leading individuals in a software engineering team or project setting
- Lead the delivery of a specific technical/system/product outcome within a software delivery team

- Managing operational support duties, including on-call support and after hours work as required
