Role Summary
As part of a product development team for Sophos NGFW (Next Generation Firewall) product line, you will perform software development activities in technology area of Linux Operating System, Linux user space networking applications, etc… throughout the full development life cycle with focus on products or systems, including designing, coding, documenting, debugging, and testing of software to create the next generation of network security products.
What you will do
- Design products or systems which are part of NGFW product family in line with the technical strategy, highlight potential implications on other products or systems. More specifically on Synchronized security solution of Sophos NGFW.
- Clear interaction with different stake holders of the product like program managers, Product managers, UX team, etc…
- Close interaction with different feature teams especially when NGFW EPICs/features cuts boundaries and spread across multiple teams (technical, logical and geo)
- End to end technical and engineering ownership of features/EPICs/stories being developed within feature team for NGFW product(s)
- Conduct and participate in peer reviews of code, designs and specifications ensuring adherence to standards, making suggestions to increase quality to the author, and modifying own work in line with feedback received.
- Identify gaps in coverage in software design, specifications, user guides, and other documentation and provide recommendations for improvements to the author.
- Provide clear updates on progress against objectives in line with agreed process.
- Review requirements specifications for coverage, identify areas that require further clarification, and suggest alternative approaches to Product Management, in line with business needs.
- Write software specifications based on product requirements, in line with agreed process.
- Review product requirements with product management team and ensure technical cohesion across multiple products and technologies and make functional proposal to meet them
- Act as an escalation point for any matter relating to the technology, this includes technical support and customer queries.
- Projects are delivered using a matrix structure which will require the post-holder to work in a cross functional team, consisting of software engineers, test engineers, and product managers.
What you will bring
- Strong experience in Golang programming
- Should have experience working on linux networking stack, different application protocols like HTTP/S, SSL/TLS etc
- TCP/IP Networking protocols understanding, Socket programming
- Experience in Container, Microservice, REST API
- Unit testing, Integration testing for open-source component changes as well as home grown components
