The Position

FanDuel are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join our Account vertical which oversees our most critical platform and services. Our Account Vertical is responsible for Registration, Authentication, User Identity and Verification journeys. Basically, if you've registered, logged-in, and managed your account on our platform, our engineering teams own this and more. Some of the technologies we use are Java, Typescript (React), Python, Terraform on AWS (K8s, EKS, Lambdas, RDS Aurora, SNS, SQS). There is a huge scope for innovation in this role from technical and feature innovation through to improving our customer experience and we're only just getting started! 

Working closely with Product, as a Senior Software Engineer in our Proton team, you'd be working on a range of activities focused around our onboarding customer journey flows. 

As a Software Engineer, you will work in empowered, multidisciplinary teams, autonomously tackling complex challenges that provide the very best experiences and products for a growing community of millions of players. We’re looking for passionate technologists, strong communicators, and those with a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems and be eager to learn from and educate others. 

Our tech stack includes Java, K8s and AWS, amongst others and the scale and complexity of our engineering environments provides interesting problems to solve at every turn.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Skilled in Java
  • Experience working with AWS cloud based infrastructure and technologies
  • Experienced working with containerisation tools such as Kubernetes. 
  • You use technology to solve straightforward problems, seeking input and guidance from team members.
  • You can take defined design and turn it into code and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices.
  • You write secure, stable, testable, maintainable code with minimal defects.
  • You participate in team design, scoping, and prioritization discussions.
  • You are a passionate advocate for your customer.

Location: Our Scottish tech hub is based in central Edinburgh and is fitted with fabulous amenities including a Gym, showers, bike parking, gaming pods, multiple breakout areas, meeting rooms, a roof terrace and much more. We operate a hybrid model for the majority of our roles, where we normally spend a day or two in the office per week.
