What You Will Be Doing
454 is seeking a Software Engineer responsible for developing molecular biology systems to interface with novel engineering platforms.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:
- Work within multidisciplinary Engineering, Optics and Sequencing Teams to rapidly design, prototype, test, and iterate novel systems
- Plan, execute, and evaluate multiple scientific strategies in parallel where appropriate
- Develop software for novel engineering platforms
- Work with existing in-lab hardware to develop tools for signal processing and program interface
- Develop analysis tools that process sets of images for automatic ROI and color detection
- Data analysis focusing on signal extraction and signal processing
- Modeling of the phasing and statistics with regards to NGS
- Help drive towards the goal of cloud-based storage
What We Are Looking For
Baseline Skills, Experience, & Attributes:
- MS/PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Computer Science, or Computational Biology
- Experience in life science tools
- Experience and knowledge of data processing for NGS highly preferred
- Deep knowledge and experience of:
- Image processing: automatic ROI detection and analysis
- Developing software for automated test equipment
- Custom design and code analysis scripts
- Python, with some knowledge of C++ preferred
- Designing efficient algorithms that can run on low-end hardware
- Ability to analyze own data (fluency with R, or MATLAB preferred)
- Experience working with fluorescence is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals and/or teams at all levels and disciplines
