Senior SEO Manager

Put “SEO is cool” as the first line of your cover letter or subject line, or your application won’t be reviewed.

We’re looking for a sharp, proactive, and results-driven Senior SEO Manager to take full ownership of strategy and execution across a portfolio of client accounts. You’ll be the face of SEO for your clients—leading the work, setting direction, communicating clearly, and delivering results that matter to their business. This isn’t a cog-in-the-machine role. You’ll own the full lifecycle: audits, strategy, content direction, reporting, and ongoing optimization.

This is not a slow, corporate environment. We move fast, use AI aggressively, and care more about impact than titles or process. If you like solving hard problems, working with smart people, and being the go-to expert, keep reading.

Who We Are

Single Grain is an award-winning digital marketing agency that’s been helping companies like Amazon, Uber, and Salesforce grow since 2009. We specialize in Paid Media, SEO, Content Marketing, CRO, and more—and we practice what we preach: our blog brings in over 200,000 monthly visitors, our podcast has 100+ million downloads, and more than 140,000 marketers subscribe to our YouTube channel.

We move quick, push hard, and expect a lot—from ourselves and each other. AI isn’t just a tool we use—it’s core to how we operate, from creative to strategy to execution. Our long-term vision is to build a small but elite team that stays lean, scrappy, and relentlessly focused on tech-enabled innovation and measurable business impact.

We don’t micromanage. We don’t hire people who need their hands held. But we do collaborate deeply, give honest feedback, and leave space for mistakes, growth, and iteration. No egos, no fluff—just people who care about doing great work and supporting each other in the process.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Perform deep audits, keyword research, and opportunity analysis
  • Build and lead on-page, off-page, and technical SEO roadmaps
  • Drive content strategies that align with search intent and client goals
  • Create and manage link-building initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • 4-6 years of experience working in SEO
  • Strong strategic thinking—you can connect SEO work to business impact and can demonstrate evidence of outstanding SEO results
  • Deep knowledge of  search engine algorithms, ranking methods, and various sectors of SEO (Technical, On-Page, Off-Page) and developing strategy around all of them
  • Proven experience using AI tools to drive measurable SEO impact—not just dabbling. You’ve tested, iterated, and integrated AI into real workflows and can speak clearly about what’s worked and why. Strong POV on where AI is headed in SEO and how to stay ahead.
  • Experience with SEO industry programs, such as Moz, Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, GTM, and Looker Studio
  • Knowledge of WordPress or other content management systems
  • Basic/working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Java, and content management systems like WordPress, AEM, Drupal, Webflow
  • Skilled in reporting, performance analysis, and translating data into action

  • Works well in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment
  • Collaborative, curious, direct, and focused on delivering top-tier work

If you're excited about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in SEO—and want to be surrounded by people who expect the best from themselves and each other—we’d love to hear from you. Just don’t forget: SEO is cool.
