Cruise’s Threat Defense Operations team supports a vast portfolio of internal and third-party solutions that are key to securing Cruise. They span cloud security, network traffic visibility, endpoint detection and response, email threat protection, data loss prevention, cybersecurity incident response, and SOAR.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will bring operational excellence to Threat Defense’s existing suite of products and services to ensure optimal usability, availability, and reliability. You will balance that work with independently leading complex projects to identify, evaluate and deploy new solutions designed to secure sensitive data, prevent cybersecurity attacks, and enable efficient cybersecurity incident response.
Developing operational excellence across an extensive suite of security products through polished documentation, configuration management, and health monitoring
Partnering with vendors to understand and influence their product roadmap, upgrading software in Cruise’s environment, and communicating changes to solutions in production
Evaluating Cruise’s detection and response posture and proactively identifying opportunities to optimize and automate
Leading the identification, evaluation, and deployment of new security solutions
Building and supporting relationships with cross-functional partners within and outside of Security

Proven ability to lead significant projects from ideation to implementation
Experience deploying and configuring endpoint detection and response solutions
Knowledge of the email threat protection landscape and experience with at least one enterprise-grade solution
In-depth understanding of core network protocols
Strong cloud security fundamentals and direct experience with software and hardware that enable network traffic visibility
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a highly developed ability to establish relationships cross-functionally to support security initiative
Coding/scripting proficiency in one or more languages
Fluency in SQL and familiarization with BigQuery
Experience configuring Okta and Duo for secure authentication and SSO
Contributions to the security community (open source, public research, blogging, presentations)
The salary range for this position is $140,800 - 207,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
