The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a critical senior-level individual contributor role within our SDET team, reporting directly to an SDET Manager. This position is primarily responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated, scalable automated testing solutions within our existing frameworks, ensuring the highest level of confidence for developers and stakeholders. A successful candidate will have deep technical expertise in testing and automation, as well as strong leadership abilities capable of driving team and department outcomes while mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities will include
- Lead the design and development of innovative and reliable End-to-End automated tests, enhancing existing automation frameworks to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Architect and develop complex test scenarios and acceptance tests based on comprehensive acceptance criteria, ensuring that tests are scalable and maintainable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical stakeholders to deeply understand systems or APIs, and design automated tests that ensure robust API and integration level validation.
- Mentor and guide junior SDETs, sharing best practices and helping to elevate the overall technical capability of the team.
- Lead testing initiatives, including coordinating with deployment teams and ensuring testability is a key consideration in product design.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the SDET team, identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvements that align with business goals.
- Operate with a high degree of independence, while collaborating effectively with all stakeholders to achieve team and department objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software development, testing, and automation.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and advanced knowledge of the Page Object Model in automation frameworks.
- Proficient in the flow of code through the Software Development Life Cycle and how it impacts testing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and errors in applications.
- Extensive experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and the integration of automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to debug complex code issues and provide effective solutions independently.
- Passion for testing, development, and design, with a focus on delivering high-quality, user-centric products.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience working with deployment teams, offering strategic input on product design, and enhancing testability in functional elements and product architectures.
- Deep expertise with Entrata standard test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Java, Maven, Docker, Git, and GitHub).
- Proven track record of working closely with development and business teams, influencing product design, and driving quality initiatives.
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to large-scale testing projects, demonstrating an ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
