Senior Scientist, Protein Engineering

The Role: 

Technology Development at Life Edit Therapeutics discovers and establishes CRISPR genome editing capabilities through protein and RNA engineering and optimization. We also deliver early therapeutic leads that supports internal and external programs for curative gene and cell therapies.  We are looking for an experienced scientist with a strong background in directed evolution of CRISPR editors for our ongoing protein engineering projects aiming to deliver effective genome editors for downstream therapeutic programs. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to making of genetic medicines that impact patient’s life and helping build a successful therapeutics company from an early stage.

 

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Develop a continuous evolution platform to evolve CRISPR editors.
  • Validate this high throughput platform for engineering CRISPR editors on therapeutically relevant targets by demonstrating improvement in activity and specificity of genome editing both in vitro and in vivo.
  • Participate in other research projects according to company needs.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and program managers to ensure achieving milestones on time.
  • Analyze experimental results and communicate data at internal and external research meetings.
  • Contribute to publications and patent applications.
  • Follow advancements in the field of gene editing and gene therapy published in the literature and presented at conferences.

 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of experience.
  • Hands on experience in molecular biology, directed evolution and protein engineering.
  • Experience in developing and using continuous evolution to evolve CRISPR editors or related systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
