Position Summary: We are seeking a highly creative, resourceful, and motivated Senior Scientist to join our Protein Degradation team. The ideal candidate will be independent, goal oriented, and have excellent communication skills. Strong candidates will be highly adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. This is a unique opportunity to drive the growth of an early-stage biotechnology company where you can meaningfully define the next frontier of protein degraders. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving our discovery efforts aimed at developing therapeutic strategies utilizing protein degradation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as inaugural member of the protein degradation team, leading establishment of lab processes, workflows, and assays.
- Lead, design and execute experiments focused on the identification and validation of novel protein degradation pathways and targets, as well as to understand the mechanism of action of proprietary degraders for targets of interest.
- Manage vendors and CROs for external workflows.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, present findings to the team, provide strategic input on project direction, while ensuring rapid turnaround of data to drive achievement of key project goals.
- Act as a thought leader for advancements in the field of protein degradation, applying this knowledge to new and ongoing projects.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior scientists and research associates within the team.
- Contribute to the preparation of research publications, conference proceedings, and patents.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology or a related discipline and 5+ years of laboratory experience preferably with drug discovery or preclinical development industry experience.
- Proficiency in a variety of molecular biology and cell biology techniques including, but not limited to, cell culture, flow cytometry, transfection, lentiviral transduction, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, RT-qPCR, and cell proliferation/viability assays.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and derive meaningful insights.
- Experience using ELN and LIMS systems, adhering to robust data capture practices and ensuring team compliance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific excellence as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, and/or other significant contributions to the biomedical sciences.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Resourceful problem solver and self-starter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in protein degradation and/or the development of protein degraders with experience developing and executing degradation measurement assays.
- Prior industry experience.
