Senior Researcher - Third-Party Due Diligence

The aim of compliance-driven due diligence is to assess our clients’ actual or potential counterparties, looking for any issues that might pose a reputational or other risk to them.

As part of a dedicated team, the compliance due diligence senior researcher role involves media research, working with databases, primary documents and other sources to uncover reputational and criminal issues, ultimate beneficial ownership, making sense of complex corporate structures and identifying possible political and sanctions exposure. The role supports the Research Supervisor in coordinating, training, knowledge management, review of level 1 and 2 reports as well as conducting level 3 reports.

Your main task will be to review, coordinate and report the findings of media research concisely within short timeframes. A meticulous eye for detail is a must in this challenging, fast-paced role. The right candidate will be a team player who has the ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure. You will be required to make sense of complex information, and have a clear and crisp writing style. You will also critically analyse and provide feedback on information and data from other stakeholders, such as other team members or vendors and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct media and database research using complex search criteria and following a strict methodology
  • Analyse search results within the context of the project and the country
  • Distil conclusions and identify indirect connections from research findings
  • Draft level 1, 2 and 3 reports
  • Support in reviewing level 1 and 2 reports
  • Support on training of new researchers
  • Support in coordination of team report scheduling
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge management
  • Support in liaising with and providing feedback to vendors and subcontractors, ensuring the quality of work they provide is high and adheres to our global delivery standards
  • Participate in discussions with other VANTAGE members, such as Research Supervisors and Regional Research Managers, to provide insight on potential service/product improvement

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of research techniques, databases, networks, online registers and archives, and research in the general internet
  • Demonstrated professional experience and clear communication style
  • Experience in coordinating timely delivery of quality reports
  • Experience in influencing local and regional teams, especially without direct reporting lines
  • Proven ability to meet project deadlines
  • Education to degree level
  • Native or equivalent fluency in English and Hindi
  • Native or equivalent fluency in another language would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and writing in English
  • Demonstrated excellence in quality of reports and ability to review
  • Proven ability in the use of Microsoft Office applications or equivalents
