👩💻 The Role
Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote, and you can work from home forever. To create the best experience for our new hire (you!), this role requires that you be based within +3 / -4 UTC.
We’re growing our QA team and are looking to hire a Senior QA Analyst. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in manual and automated testing while collaborating with talented engineers, product owners, and designers. You'll play a crucial role in developing comprehensive test strategies, optimizing QA processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary Agile teams, actively participating in ceremonies and working closely with Engineers, Product Owners, Designers, and other team members.
- Conduct thorough business analyses throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop and advise on comprehensive test strategies and scenarios.
- Implement and optimise testing processes within the team based on the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in QA processes.
- Perform risk assessments and provide estimates for the delivery process.
- Create, develop, and maintain test cases for developer automation.
- Execute manual testing for scenarios that cannot be automated.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to report issues and conduct root-cause analyses.
- Liaise with the QA Lead on testing challenges and bug resolution.
- Deliver detailed reports on testing progress and coverage to the QA Lead.
- Spearheaded quality initiatives and fostered a culture of continuous quality improvement.
- Contribute to automation efforts and best practices.
Core Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA roles within Agile environments, demonstrating proficiency in multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Proven track record of effective collaboration with Engineers, Product Owners, Designers, and other team members in Agile ceremonies and throughout the development lifecycle.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with a knack for identifying and resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
- Extensive experience in conducting thorough business analyses and requirements engineering, with the ability to challenge and refine product requirements to ensure testability and quality.
- Expert-level knowledge in developing comprehensive test strategies and scenarios for complex systems and products involving intricate workflows.
- Advanced proficiency in implementing and optimizing testing processes based on the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) within Agile frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives in QA processes and foster a quality culture within teams.
- Strong risk assessment and estimation skills for delivery processes, balancing quality with business objectives.
- Proven experience creating, developing, and maintaining test cases suitable for developer automation.
- Mastery of manual testing techniques for scenarios that cannot be automated, including exploratory testing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of collaborating with engineering teams on issue reporting and root-cause analyses.
- Strong communication skills, including liaising effectively with QA Leads on testing challenges and bug resolution.
- Proficiency in delivering detailed, comprehensive reports on testing progress and coverage.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL, including writing complex queries and troubleshooting data issues.
- Proven experience with Web Services and API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and PostgreSQL.
- Solid foundation in theoretical knowledge with practical experience to implement and execute automated test strategies effectively.
