About the role:
The Senior Project Manager leads the successful development and delivery of EPC Battery Energy Storage System projects, contributing to the growth and sustainability of renewable energy sources and grid stability. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, commercial acumen, stakeholder management and a passion for delivering high-quality, sustainable energy solutions.
As the valued and trusted partner of the customer, the Senior Project Manager will lead the entire lifecycle of projects including engineering design, procurement and logistics, and the safe construction, installation and successful commissioning of the system to the national grid.
A passion to learn and develop, an agile mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced matrixed global team with new technology is essential.
Responsibilities:
Lead the safe delivery of battery energy storage projects from early works through NTP then to successful handover to service operations.
Build and develop long term relationships with design and construct partners, equipment providers and other partners through the Project Delivery phase.
Lead project planning and execution across the entire Fluence organisation by close collaboration with safety, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and business administration.
Proactively implement plans to exceed all time, quality and financial performance targets of the project while maintaining and enhancing customer and project team satisfaction.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Smoothly and successfully transfer the project to the Fluence Service organization at completion.
Participate in business improvement projects including documenting and communicating initial project plans and any changes to the plan.
Experience & Qualifications
While experience in BESS projects is a distinct advantage, there is a strong preference for candidates with a demonstrable history managing EPC projects in the Australian wholesale electrical energy sector.
An ability to interact in a multicultural environment, travel and to work under pressure with conflicting demands on time are also an essential requirement.
In addition, qualified candidates will have:
10+ years of experience as an EPC project manager with P&L responsibility.
Exceptional leadership, collaboration, organising and influencing skills.
Outstanding business acumen and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrable ability leading a high-performance team within a virtual matrixed and global organisation.
Project Management qualification or certification.
Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations in the energy sector.
Education
Degree in Engineering or other relevant closely discipline is required.
Languages
Fluent in English required.
Travel
The role will include domestic travel and may include some regional travel to project sites or supplier factories.
