The Senior Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful development and delivery of EPC Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, contributing to the growth and sustainability of renewable energy and supporting grid stability. This role combines technical expertise with exceptional project management skills, commercial insight, stakeholder collaboration, and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality, sustainable energy solutions.
As a trusted partner to our customers, the Senior Project Manager will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from engineering design to procurement, logistics, safe construction, installation, and the seamless commissioning of systems to the national grid.
A strong desire to learn and grow, an agile mindset, and comfort with working in a fast-paced, global team focused on new technology are essential to thrive in this role.

Overview of the Opportunity

  • Lead the safe delivery of BESS projects from early works through Notice to Proceed (NTP) to successful handover to service operations.
  • Cultivate long-term, positive relationships with design and construction partners, equipment providers, and other key partners throughout the project delivery phase.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including safety, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and business administration to drive project planning and execution.
  • Proactively manage and implement plans to exceed time, quality, and financial performance targets while ensuring customer and project team satisfaction.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project team, encouraging open communication and mutual support.
  • Ensure smooth and successful transition of the project to the Fluence Service team at completion, with a focus on ongoing success and customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to business improvement projects, including documenting and communicating initial project plans and any changes to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

  • 10+ years of experience as an EPC project manager with P&L responsibility.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, organizational, and influencing skills to guide diverse teams and build consensus.
  • Outstanding business acumen and analytical skills, enabling clear decision-making and proactive problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performance teams within a virtual, matrixed, and global organization.
  • A Project Management qualification or certification that reflects your expertise in managing complex projects.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations within the energy sector to ensure compliance and safety at all times
  • A degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • While experience in BESS projects is a distinct advantage, we highly value candidates with proven experience managing EPC projects in the Australian wholesale electrical energy sector.
