Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas with travel to our LNG Facilities in Louisiana. This position reports to the VP of Corporate Engineering based in Arlington, VA. The role is responsible for development and execution of a portfolio of small capital projects at existing facilities with the goal of increasing LNG production capacity and efficiency.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of hydrocarbon processing units and control systems necessary to lead engineering and construction activities and coordinate activities within operating facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of small projects ranging from $100K to $1MM induvial cost with annual total of $10-20MM. The goal of many of many of these are to evaluate improvements within the Owner Furnished Equipment modules to improve the standard design on future plants. Speed of execution and coordination with Process SMEs during early operation evaluation is essential.
- Generate Front-End Engineering plans based on early concept proposals from the Corporate Process Engineering team.
- Develop conceptual full project estimates and integrated schedules.
- Perform economic evaluations of equipment alternatives with emphasis on availability and reliability projections and life cycle costs.
- Prepare basis of design documents for engineering contractors based on existing Venture Global philosophies and industry codes and standards.
- Manage technical issues and coordination between EPC and Venture Global. Liaise with home office engineering for the resolution of technical issues that cannot be resolved at site.
- Prepare permit submittal packages and manage responses.
- Coordinate with in-house subject matter experts on advanced technical issues, while self-managing optimal designs for maintainability and future expansions opportunities.
- Review drawings issued by EPC and equipment suppliers.
- Identify quality issues related to defective or non-conforming workmanship or materials. Work closely with construction team to ensure that contractors produce the required quality of work in line with project drawings and specifications.
- Lead project progress meetings and deliver a status of site engineering activities.
- Participate in project safety program through safety walks, attending safety reviews, and provide safety input into designs, procedures, and activities.
- Assist in development and review of turnover dossiers.
- Build relationship with contractor project engineering counterparts to develop long-term alliance relationships.
- Coordination with Operations and Maintenance groups to plan opportunity work and develop strategies for early tie-in during turnarounds.
- Travel to production facilities in Louisiana 25-50% of time.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- PMP certification license is preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in an engineering capacity in an industrial setting in engineering or operations
- Oil and Gas experience is required, with preference in LNG applications, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
- Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience using Management of Change systems, phase-gate project authorization processes, and contract bidding and awards. Broad base of general engineering knowledge including mechanical, electrical, and I&C
- Team player with a mindset to work with a global team and with diverse culture.
- Experience working on projects with multiple interfaces.
- Must exhibit a strong desire to take ownership of deliverable.
- Experience with cryogenic or liquefaction systems is a plus.
- Experience with systems completion, commissioning, or turnaround activities is a plus.
- Able to read detailed construction drawings and specifications detailing the system design, including P&IDs and one lines
- Excellent technical, practical, and communication skills.
- Additional Skills:
- Possess effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, and discipline specific software applications: MS Project or other scheduling software.
- Skilled in the application of relevant major design codes and standards.
- Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
