The Senior Program Associate - Energy Access and Livelihoods will play a critical role in advancing the organization's mission to enhance energy access and improve livelihoods in underserved communities. The role involves spearheading outreach and partnership efforts, writing grant proposals, and contributing to program development and implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy access, rural development, or livelihood enhancement, combined with exceptional communication and organizational skills. The position requires a willingness to travel to project sites and partner locations
Outreach and Partnerships:
- Develop and maintain relationship with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and community organizations
- Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities to expand the reach and impact of energy access and livelihood initiatives
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote programs and build strategic alliances
- Collaborate with internal teams to align partnership strategies with program goals and objectives
Grant Proposal Writing:
- Lead the development of high-quality grant proposals, including writing, budgeting, and coordinating inputs from various teams
- Research and identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other donors
- Ensure all proposals meet funder guidelines and deadlines and align with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities
- Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and reporting deadlines
Program Development and Implementation:
- Contribute in design and implementation of energy access and livelihood programs, ensuring they are sustainable, scalable, and impactful
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data to facilitate decision-making and improve program effectiveness
- Provide technical support to field teams and partners in the implementation of projects
- Develop and disseminate case studies, reports, and other materials that highlight program successes and lessons learned
Travel:
- Travel to project sites and partner locations, including rural and remote areas, to support program activities and monitor progress.
- Engage with local communities, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to ensure programs are responsive to their needs and contexts.
- Document and report on travel experiences, including successes, challenges, and opportunities for program improvement.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as Energy, Environmental Studies, International Development, or related disciplines
- 5+ years of experience in energy access, rural development, livelihoods, or a related field, with a focus on program implementation, outreach, and partnerships
- Strong grant proposal writing and fundraising skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in project management tools and software
- Willingness and ability to travel including to rural and remote areas
- Experience working in the Global South or in similar contexts is preferred
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the organization's geographic focus is preferred
