We are looking for a customer- and data-driven technical senior product manager to join our payroll team and help re-imagine and build the payroll of the future. This team is responsible for our flagship product, Payroll, and owns all customer experiences and systems around compliance, taxes, payments, filings, and more. As part of this team, you will closely collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Data Scientists, Compliance, Legal, and Operations partners to drive strategy, build products, and impact Gusto’s P&L.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Tackle complex and ambiguous problems in a highly regulated domain while partnering with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to improve the tax accuracy and efficiency
  • Work with internal teams such as CX (Gusto’s Customer Experience team that supports our customers and operations teams) to identify opportunities to build internal tooling and automation that will help resolve issues and improve customer experience
  • Iterate on mature features using data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimization while ensuring customer satisfaction

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical product management experience or relative experience with a proven track record of building internal tooling and automation that had an impact on internal and external customers
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to articulate and build business models and prioritization
    • Expertise in identifying requirements, translating them into a clear roadmap, prioritizing features, and driving projects to completion
    • Ability to define and track metrics to successfully launch and land high-impact features
    • Great attention to detail, strong bias for action, and highly organized
    • Demonstrated success with strategies to drive internal adoption of new methods, patterns, and capabilities through motivation and inspiration
  • Experience in managing products with high technical complexity and balancing technical and product goals
  • Ability to drive end-to-end execution with cross-functional partners while building strong partnerships and collaboration to garner buy-in across all levels
  • Relentless focus on customers’ needs and creating simple, beautiful, and enjoyable experiences that solve JTBD and delight users
  • Experience in distilling complex and ambiguous problems into actionable solutions
  • Previous experience in a highly regulated domain and/or in Payroll is a plus
  • Experience at rapidly scaling companies is preferred
