The Team

Upstart is looking for a Senior Product Manager - Growth to help us achieve our mission of enabling effortless credit based on true risk. As a growth product manager, you will work closely with our engineers and marketers to guide products from conception to launch. You will design and develop technologies that increase our market exposure, improve the accuracy and speed of our experimentation, reduce the cost of acquiring new users, and increase the LTV of our existing users. You will also play an important part in imagining our next moonshots.

One of the reasons Upstart has experienced such rapid growth is because of the clear-eyed, analytical approach we take to product enhancements. The right candidate for this role should be highly ambitious, able to organize both ideas and people, and excel at problem solving of all kinds. You should have a bias toward action and be able to break down complex problems into steps that drive rapid product development. You will bridge the technical and business worlds as you first design services that our customers love and then engage stakeholders to make them a reality. By clearly defining requirements and removing blockers, you will act as a multiplier on the productivity of your team.

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote 

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.

Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per Quarter at the San Mateo office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Identify market opportunities and define product vision and strategy.
  • Launch features a regular basis to support a wide range of acquisition channels.
  • Understand customer needs and gather product requirements.
  • Accelerate growth marketing efforts with new marketing capabilities
  • Engage closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable implementation schedule.

 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Minimum requirements:
    • BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • 4-7 years of growth product management experience at a growth-stage company. Minimum requirement 2 years marketing or product-adjacent experience (e.g. product marketer, management consultant, growth analyst).
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve strategic goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment, and to evolve product strategy based on research, data and industry trends; excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills.
    • Passion and aptitude for credit and financing-related economic concepts.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Track record of building a successful product testing paradigm. The ideal candidate has already run dozens of A/B tests and is comfortable leading the creation of an experimental backlog.
    • Experience bringing teams together using Agile development methodology.
    • Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI, Sales Customer Support, Finance or Marketing; understanding of full funnel conversion best practices (e.g. distribution strategies, funnel conversion, operational go-to-market).
    • Experience building online finance products, and/or knowledge of the consumer finance market.

The minimum base pay for this position in Colorado is 155,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Act. It is specific to Colorado and may not be applicable to other locations.
