The Role:

Apache Druid’s core value proposition is its performance and developer friendliness. As a Product Engineer on the core Druid Engine team, you’ll be responsible for driving the growth of both open-source and Imply distribution of Apache Druid. You’ll be meeting with a diverse set of users, to understand how they are creating value and where their frustrations are. You’ll be directly contributing to building one of the fastest database engines in the world.

This role requires supporting our EMEA and USA East customers. We require that this individual be able to work the Eastern time zone hours of 9am EST to 5pm EST, unless otherwise required.

Responsibilities:

• Talks to a range of users and customers using their area of product and beyond
• Drives the strategy and aligns cross-functional team on feature priority through clear problem and value
• Drives features across multiple engineering team from definition to delivery
• Expands relationships and influence with finance, legal, customer success
• Communicates with leadership proactively and clearly articulates trade-offs/options for critical decisions
• Takes a proactive role in the marketing of product capabilities and training the field on how to sell
• Tracks customer adoption metrics of their features and works to improve those

Requirements:

• 5 years+ of product management experience in building database, data science and other backend infrastructure products
• Able to explain how a SQL query works from query to file-level access
• Educational or professional background in computer science or related engineering fields
• Track record of delivering products with cross-functional teams common to enterprise software industry (field engineering, sales, marketing, partnerships, etc.)
• Analytical skills to make data-driven decisions (e.g. analyze product usage)

Bonus Points: 

• Worked on Apache open-source projects before
• Has basic understanding of how various cloud provider works and knows what terms such as ec2, gcp, OIDC means

Individual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications aligned with Imply’s internal levelings guidelines and benchmarks. The below range encompasses roles with on target earnings. This role is also eligible to participate in Imply’s equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.

Compensation: $123,300 - $300,000
