Senior Product Designer - POS

As a Senior Product Designer in SumUp's Point of Sale team, you will design intuitive and user-friendly experiences that empower merchants to efficiently run their business (manage sales, payments, and operations). You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and fellow Designers to craft seamless solutions across Android, iOS, web, and proprietary hardware — including handheld devices, traditional over-the-counter POS, customer-facing displays, and kitchen screens. Your role will involve understanding merchant needs through research, developing compelling design concepts, testing solutions, and refining interfaces to create products that are visually engaging, easy to use, and aligned with both merchant and business needs.

Your work will directly influence critical merchant interactions within SumUp's ecosystem, ensuring consistent and exceptional experiences across varied screen formats and devices.

You'll be great for this if

• You have deep knowledge of UX/UI best practices, accessibility, and responsive design principles You’re proficient in common design and prototyping tools and services (we mainly use Figma)
• You can demonstrate executing across all phases of design work: participating in research and discovery, defining conceptual foundations for design solutions, prototyping through to production-ready designs, and participating or conducting usability testing
• You’re able to translate complex technical problems into intuitive and user-friendly designs, with strong storytelling skills to communicate design rationale and decisions effectively while leveraging data analytics and metrics to measure their impact
• You have experience collaborating with engineering, product, research, and other design teams, and proactively engage with design peers for critique sessions
• Your design process follows a human-centered approach and you apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to validate your solutions
• You excel in interaction design, UI design, and information architecture, with an exceptional eye for detail and usability with a systems-thinking approach
• You have extensive experience designing for diverse screen factors and devices, including mobile, tablet, desktop. Proprietary hardware is a plus
