About the Senior Product Designer role

As the sole Senior Product Designer you will be responsible for the end-to-end design of OpenCorporates’ digital experiences, with a strong focus on user interface design, interaction design, and brand consistency. You will work at the intersection of UX, UI, and branding, ensuring every touchpoint is intuitive, engaging, and conversion-optimised.

As the first dedicated design hire, you will require a hands-on approach to execution while also laying the foundation for a scalable design system and future team growth. You will have a strong background in UI and interaction design, coupled with a deep understanding of user experience principles. This is a hands-on role today, with a path to leadership as the team grows.

Your key responsibilities as the Senior Product Designer will include:

1. Design and Optimize the Customer Journey Across Product and Website

• Lead the end-to-end design of user experiences, ensuring a seamless transition from the website to the product.

• Collaborate with the PLG PM to optimize user journeys, signup flows, and engagement mechanisms, ensuring frictionless interactions.

• Develop intuitive, conversion-driven experiences that align with user needs and business goals.

2. Own Product & Visual Design Execution

• Create high-quality, visually compelling UI designs for both the website and product interfaces.

• Establish and maintain a cohesive design system, ensuring consistency across all digital experiences.

• Define and implement visual hierarchy, interaction patterns, and micro-interactions that enhance usability.

3. Leverage Data and Research to Drive Continuous Improvement

• Conduct usability testing, A/B testing, and user research to refine and validate design decisions.

• Use tools such as Hotjar, Google Analytics, and session recordings to analyze user behavior and identify areas for improvement.

• Apply data-driven insights to optimize conversion rates and engagement.

4. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams to Deliver High-Quality Designs

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Growth teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs.

• Clearly communicate design rationale and decision-making processes to stakeholders.

• Advocate for best practices in user experience, accessibility, and interaction design.

5. Establish the Foundation for Future Growth

• Establish scalable design processes and documentation to enable future team expansion.

• Play a key role in shaping the visual identity of OpenCorporates, ensuring brand alignment across digital platforms.

As the organization grows, you will take on mentorship and leadership responsibilities within the design function.
