Senior Product Designer, Driver Recognition & Community

As a product designer at Lyft, you will be involved at every step of product development, from brainstorming broad ideas to ensuring design quality through launch. Using your full range of interaction, visual, and product thinking skills, you will lead and own an experience for our product teams.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to drive design strategy for Driver Recognition and Community, a team focused on fostering connection with drivers by valuing them for their work, and turning rides into more than just delivering a person from point A to point B. As a qualified candidate, you will have a track record of leading projects to successful outcomes for users and the business. You're a strong cross-functional partner and great communicator experienced with every step of product development, and are able to take a solution from idea to implementation. You uphold a high quality bar, and have a strong appreciation for the details. Above all, you approach problems holistically and create empathetic, simple solutions to multi-faceted problems.

In this role you will:

  • Drive the design strategy for Driver Recognition and Community, collaborating with other teams to build compelling experiences that infuse all of Lyft’s products with opportunities for connection
  • Design compelling, intuitive experiences that feel meaningful to drivers 
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to define and create top-notch experiences
  • Influence cross-functional and cross-team efforts to build innovative and impactful experiences

Responsibilities:

  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision.
  • Plan strategically and think tactically as a partner with product and engineering to define the future of the team.
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross-platform interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Inspire the entire team (including your cross-functional partners) by bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Create a unified, end-to-end experience through close collaboration with team members from across the Product and Design Teams.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience working in UX, UI, HCI related field with experience working on mobile products
  • Experience working with a lean team of Engineers, Product Managers and Program Managers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with user research methods and analysis
  • Expertise with Figma and other prototyping tools
  • Excellence in design craft
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team
  • Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is $124,800-156,000 CAD. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
