Critical Mass is hiring a

Senior Producer, Contract

Calgary, Canada
Contractor

As a Freelance Senior Producer, you are central to successfully turning a vision into reality. You bring experience following a production through from ideation to completion, and you understand every step it takes in between to get to the finish line. Just a few minutes with a script, and you are able to translate that in to production resourcing requirements, realize areas of watchout & opportunity, estimate how long the project will take, and how much it will to cost with a production partner.

During procurement you work directly with your business manager and cost consultants to negotiate vendor bids and execute production contracts, and your finance team to manage client estimates and vendor POs. During production you remain in constant communication with your internal team and production partners, define and manage all internal hours and 3rd party costs, and maintain a detailed production and post schedule.

You have experience managing all aspects of post-production, including editorial, animation, VFX and sound design, and you know how to bring the right suite of post-production partners and talent to the table to get it all done on time and within budget. You remain calm and collected when production challenges arise, focusing on rallying your team and bringing solutions to the table. The trust you’ve built within your team allows you to rein in other teams when necessary, and clients know you as a production expert and trusted advisor.

You Will:

  • Define production scope based on creative concept and recommend production partners and talent.
  • Define production schedules, set milestones, and track deliverables.
  • Generate and negotiate third party production estimates with cost consultant involvement.
  • Navigate client procurement policies including triple bid and diversity supplier requirements.
  • Assist with SAG talent contracts, asset licensing and standard production documentation, including insurance, permits, usage rights, and more with the help of our integrated BA team.
  • Manage production partners to a defined scope and coordinate all comms between agency and production teams.
  • Moderate both the internal and client review processes during pre-production, on set and during post-production.
  • Cultivate strong relationships within creative and account teams.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with external partners. Provide and promote high standards of professionalism and leadership throughout projects, both within and outside the organization.
  • Appropriately represent the agency’s business philosophies, protocols, and standards.

You Have:

  • 5+ years experience with production in an agency environment.
  • Experience with digital production and campaign work (specifically production of social assets in various aspect ratios/formats).
  • Experience working with media teams to understand deliverables requirements and delivery specs.
  • Strong knowledge of live action shoots and postproduction processes, experience with jobs at the $1M+ budget level.
  • Experience preparing budgets statements of work and production schedules.
  • Experience in a leadership role with a focus on both client-facing and team-management.
  • Ability to manage multiple planned and unplanned project tasks, roles, and responsibilities.
  • Skills in mediation, negotiation, and diplomacy.
  • Producer portfolio samples.
  • You have experience working with cost consultants on large integrated campaigns.7
  • Candidate must be based in Los Angeles.
