Senior Principal Product Manager – Data Stream Processing

The Team: 

This role is part of the Data Platform which is the foundation of the NOW platform and provides scalable and intuitive databases and data services. We provide a world class data platform with a deep focus on scalability, reliability, and observability to operate and grow alongside the needs of our business units and customers. We are introducing new data services to meet market needs and as we scale, we are moving to container-based provisioning and deployment models using Kubernetes. 

The Role: 

ServiceNow customers work with a massive and diverse set of data to enable intelligent workflows across their businesses. We are looking for an experienced Product Manager who is passionate about data streaming, real-time analytics, and event-based applications to lead our data streaming and event processing service based on Apache Flink. You will be enabling our customers to incorporate machine-scale, real-time data into their digital workflows and powering new experiences across the enterprise. 

This role is highly collaborative, working with product managers, internal and external customers, and experienced engineers to build high quality services that are consumed as part of the NOW platform and power the ServiceNow ecosystem of over 10K customers and partners.

Deliver Customer Value 

  • Work directly with internal and external customers to Identify use cases that can be achieved and enhanced with data streaming, real-time analytics, and event processing 

  • Serve your primary customers who are internal ServiceNow teams deploying data processing jobs as part of their applications 

  • Create exceptional developer and operations experiences that allow teams to successfully deploy and support their processing jobs 

  • Collaborate closely with ServiceNow business units to power new products and capabilities built on the data platform 

  • Evangelize the data platform capabilities to drive awareness, enablement, and adoption 

  • Become a domain expert by integrating usability studies, research, and market analysis into product requirements that map to clear customer value 

Provide Team Leadership 

  • Establish the vision and product strategy for a highly visible new data service  

  • Work across product teams to establish common integration points and implementation patterns 

  • Manage various stakeholders and communicate product priorities and build consensus 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute on the product roadmap and bring high-quality services to life 

  • Assume leadership responsibilities as an accountable owner who is committed to the outcome regardless of the role or organizational boundaries 

Have a Significant Impact 

  • Own the vision and product strategy for a new service that is delivering net-new capabilities and unlocking additional market opportunity 

  • Be part of a high-performing Product team that is accountable, empowered, and works together to deliver outcomes that matter 

  • Influence other product teams by being the expert in your domain 

 

To be successful in this role you have: 

  • 12+ years of Product Management experience or equivalent in a technical role  

  • Experience building and operating enterprise-class data services as part of a highly scalable platform 

  • Domain experience in data streaming and event processing using technologies such as Apache Flink and Kafka 

  • An understanding of the broader data and analytics space, and how companies are utilizing machine-scale data in near real-time to unlock innovations and power AI 

  • A strategic mindset to define product vision and strategy that delivers strong customer value and produces business outcomes 

  • Strong prioritization skills that are data-driven and based on market needs 

  • Demonstrated experience owning an actionable product roadmap and driving execution 

  • Ability to inspire and align engineering teams to deliver exceptional experiences 

  • Technical savvy and experience working with developers and architects to build scalable and highly reliable services that are part of a larger platform 

  • Business savvy with a track record of delivering impactful business outcomes 

For positions in California (outside of the Bay Area), we offer a base pay of 203,000 - $285,200, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs (subject to eligibility requirements). Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location. For individuals who will be working in the Bay Area, there is a pay enhancement for positions located in that geographical area; please contact your recruiter for additional information.
