The Workload Hosting (Engineering Platform) team at SEEK is dedicated to revolutionising the software engineering journey. Operating within SEEK's Engineering Platforms, our team is a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team that work within APAC matrix organisational structure.
The team is responsible for workload hosting part of Automat, SEEK’s internal developer platform, based on Cloud Native ecosystem on Kubernetes. The team is also responsible other developer systems such as Backstage and other internal tools for managing containerised workloads
About the role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure platform solutions that support the development and deployment of software across SEEK. This role involves guiding engineers in modern cloud-native practices, championing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and driving automation to improve system resilience, efficiency, and security. In addition, you will foster a collaborative environment through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and proactive team support.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Development and Strengthening

Lead and guide engineers in building, deploying, and managing scalable platform services that align with modern software and secure coding practices.

Design, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, containerized applications, and cloud-native solutions.

Implement automation scripts and tools (e.g., Helm, Terraform) for provisioning, maintenance, and scaling of cloud infrastructure.

Actively improve platform health, security, and reliability, contributing to an optimized and resilient platform ecosystem.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues within the platform, supporting team members and stakeholders in high-stakes situations.
Execute Engineering Excellence

Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices and automate cloud infrastructure components (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Develop secure, performant internal platforms, adhering to best practices in container orchestration, microservices architecture, and cloud-native design principles.

Provide operational support as part of an on-call roster to ensure high system availability, actively responding to critical incidents.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions tailored to customer needs, supporting Agile practices and iterative improvement
- Conduct performance tuning, cost optimization, and continuous process improvements for platform efficiency and operational excellence
Strengthen Engineering and Learning Communities
- Actively contribute to SEEK’s Engineering communities of practice, promoting continuous learning and cross-functional collaboration.
- Participate in meetups, user groups, and open-source projects, sharing insights and best practices.
- Engage in constructive feedback loops with team members to foster an environment of continuous learning and development.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Technical Expertise

Kubernetes and Containerization: Proven experience with Kubernetes (setup, management, troubleshooting), containerization technologies like Docker, container orchestration, microservices architecture, and cloud-native principles.

Cloud Platforms: Strong knowledge of cloud providers (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud) and their Kubernetes services.

Argo CD and GitOps: In-depth knowledge of Argo CD, GitOps principles, and automation tools like Helm and Terraform to streamline deployment and infrastructure management.

CI/CD Practices: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Buildkite, Jenkins), contributing to a reliable and efficient deployment pipeline.

Infrastructure-as-Code: Proficient in IaC and configuration management tools to streamline infrastructure operations and scalability.

Coding practices: Design patterns, and data modeling, delivering high-quality, well-tested code.
Problem-Solving and Collaboration
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to navigate and resolve complex platform challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and convey complex concepts to stakeholders
