Senior Payroll GL Accountant

The Sr. Payroll GL Accountant will report to the Payroll Accounting Manager and will support all duties associated with the accurate recording of payroll and related financial close activities for a group of international locations (AMER, EMEA, and India). This role will work closely with Payroll, Corp Accounting, and our external 3rd party payroll vendors. This is a hybrid role based in our Bangalore office. This position requires working during late evening hours from 2 PM to 11 PM (IST), with a 1-hour lunch break included. Are you available to work during these Non-Shift hours?

What you'll be doing

• Oversee the month-end close process, including the preparation of payroll and stock journal entries for AMER, EMEA, and India, and ensure the accuracy of related balance sheet reconciliations. Also, manage the period-end close process by ensuring the timely completion of all accounting entries and reconciliations
• Adhere to the monthly close calendar and related checklists to ensure journal entries are prepared and reviewed promptly. Also, implement monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables in compliance with GAAP
• Maintain strong internal controls and proper process/policy documentation. Partner with internal and external auditors to ensure continued compliance with SOX and manage audits as directed
• Manage relationships with all stakeholders, including the payroll service provider for improvements, and foster strong collaboration with the payroll and Finance Team. Also, reconcile all payroll-related general ledger accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis
• Review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate balances in financial documents. Prepare Balance Sheet account reconciliations and load them in Blackline. Also, bring a daily dedication to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

What we're looking for

• Possess accounting experience in payroll and general accounting, with knowledge of payroll-related requirements and regulations. Preferred experience with Workday, Blackline, and Floqast
• Must be a self-starter, able to work independently on regular routine assignments, including managing time to meet critical deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality in all assignments and in all information obtained, performing with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong work ethic and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as quarter-end and year-end
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization both internally and externally. Good working knowledge of Microsoft business suite with strong Excel skills
