Senior Packaging Designer

What the job does:

We are looking for x2 a talented Senior Packaging Designers to join our highly productive in-house team. You’ll have extensive experience from within a similar position, preferably in the beauty sector, and significant exposure to branding, packaging and print collateral. You will be a conceptual designer with a great eye for typography and a thorough understanding of Adobe CC Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.

We have two positions available. One focusing on 2D and the other on 3D, so experience in rendering in either one of these disciplines is a must- and experience in designing accessories or make-up bags is a plus!

You should also be a confident illustrator who can sketch ideas and translate sketches into packaging design. You will be able to interpret briefs, be extremely organised and manage your own projects from conception through to completion. You will help to develop creative concepts and design ideation for primary and secondary packaging briefs, as well as the delivery of some technical artworks. You will be an expert in print and be confident in presenting your ideas, whilst keeping up-to-date with current beauty and fashion trend

Role Accountabilities:

• Design ideation and concept development of all projects
• Manage own projects conception through to completion
• Present design evolution and ideation of projects to Director of Design
• Collaborate and communicate directly with cross-functional teams
• Communicate needs and production requirements to Artworkers and Packaging Managers
• Communicate and discuss copy direction with copy team
• Continue developing design and strategic skills

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in the design review and production meetings
• Approve relevant colour/design-sensitive components of packaging
• Keep up-to-date on current art, design and fashion
• Participate in the one-on-one meetings and keep manager up to date
• Be a reliable, responsible member of the team
• Set a good example to peers and junior team member

Requirements

• Computer skills: Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are essential.
• 2D or 3D Rendering
• Educational qualification or equivalent in Graphic Design and prior experience in the design field
• Any prior experience in designing accessories or make-up bags is a plus
• Experienced and highly creative designer
• Excellent typography/design and illustration skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
