(Senior) Originator, Origination Italy

Working in Origination Italy 

As part of the Southern Europe Origination Department, the Italian Origination team originates and manages a long-term portfolio of third-party contracts in Italy, typically tailor-made Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and long-term sales contracts to large end customers. Set up as an fully integrated business line with a wide mandate and own books, it also counts with its own dedicated portfolio management, pricing and analytics capability based in Dusseldorf. Furthermore, the team cooperates closely with other regional Origination teams to offer pan-European tailored energy solutions. The business has seen significantly grown in terms of size and operational complexity and constantly identifies and pursues new business cases supported by our wide framework 

As an Originator in the Italian Origination team, you’ll:  

• Originate new - out-of-the box - marketing and trading opportunities with counterparties/clients to enlarge Statkraft’s playing fieldIdentify, develop, negotiate and execute complex structured energy transactions with embedded optionality in the Italian market with a focus on renewable PPAs
• Develop and maintain relationships with large buyers of electricity such as industrials, corporates, suppliers, serving as a professional key-account and understanding their purchasing needs.
• Explore markets and promote new products in collaboration with other desks, channel and distribute information and opportunities
• Work closely with colleagues in Milan office, fellow originators, portfolio managers and risk analysts for new deal origination, structuring and pricing
• Manage entire deal approval process with all internal stakeholders

About you:    

We look for an experienced Originator with the essential skills to develop new business, future-proof our existing business and create renewable energy solutions. These include:  

• University degree in economics, finance, engineering, or equivalent 
• At least 5-10 years of professional work experience in energy markets, preferably previous commercial (front office) experience in the Italian power market
• Experience and familiarity with non-standard power contract terms, ideally with long-term renewable off take agreements / PPAs and master trade agreements, such as EFET, ISDA
• Strong understanding of and view on European power market fundamentals, interconnections, generation assets, market players and market regulations
• Strong team player able to co-operate with members from internal support desks (Operations, Risk, Legal, other Front Office desks) to head the deal lifecycle from initiation to execution
• Strong commercial mind-set and high level of initiative and motivation
• Self-propelled international minded person with ability to work independently  
• The ability to multitask and work with a hands-on approach 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Fluency in Italian and English is required
