The IT infrastructure operations department has got the overall responsibility for all IT services in production, including day-to-day operations, improvement, and lifecycle management. We are now looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to be the Oracle subject matter expert in our Database and Middleware team. You will work in a dynamic and self-driven environment, with very experienced colleagues that support each other and oversee the operations of all the company databases. The position will report to the Manager of Application and Middleware in Infrastructure Operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement enterprise-level database infrastructure on Oracle – both on-prem and in Azure.
- Plan and execute database implementation, migration and improvement projects, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Take initiative to analyse, review and identify potential improvements and modernization points in existing environments.
- Drive operational excellence with attention to key areas such as monitoring, capacity reporting, backup and recovery.
- Configure and optimize database equipment and protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in shared initiatives in order to move forward in the organization’s technological journey.
- Implement security controls, identity management, and compliance standards to ensure the security and integrity of database resources.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to database engineering and Cloud technologies.
To be successful in this role, we believe you have:
- At least five years of experience related to Database operations and engineering as well as significant understanding of operating models and operational excellence.
- Significant and broad over-all IT Infrastructure competency.
- Significant Azure Cloud experience.
- Bachelor’s or master's degree within relevant fields, or relevant work experience.
- Certifications related to databases and/or cloud technologies are an advantage.
