Senior Operations Manager

As a Senior Operations Manager at Bezos Academy, you will partner closely with school leaders across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area to support our network of tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools. You are a mission-driven professional inspired by our mission to expand access to high quality preschools in under-resourced areas. You will support the opening and ongoing operations of diverse school sites. Your top priority will be to ensure they are supported and equipped to operate safely and smoothly. Your work will help school leaders to adopt and sustain best practices, including those being implemented network-wide.

You will maintain close communication with your schools by routinely checking in, conducting regular onsite walk-throughs, and being available when issues arise to ensure service needs are met. You will continuously assess the quality of services and establish and uphold high standards for operational excellence. This will require understanding and prioritizing the needs of your schools, being solutions-oriented, and establishing robust relationships with service providers (vendors, landlords, etc.) so that you are able to set clear expectations, deliver results, and provide timely feedback. 

 

LOCATION

  • Dallas, Texas and within drivable distance of Bezos Academy preschools (please see our website for school locations)
  • Relocation support is available for those willing to relocate to Dallas, Texas

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
  • The full salary range for this position in Dallas, Texas is $123,000 - $203,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
  • This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Eight or more years of relevant professional experience, with five or more years in operational leadership or a related leadership role involving hands-on, simultaneous, multi-site / multi-school support
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management, analytical, and process-improvement skills
  • A successful track record of delivering strong results against deadlines and on budget
  • Strong personal commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and experience building relationships across lines of difference
  • Valid state driver’s license, clean motor vehicle records, personal auto insurance (at least minimum coverage under applicable law), and access to a reliable vehicle

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working within the educational sector, at either a multi-school network and/or multi-state educational network
  • Experience developing and managing an operating budget
  • Experience in hands-on facilities management
  • Comfort and confidence using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet, Procore, etc.)
  • Experience working directly with local and/or national vendors, reviewing contracts, and managing their performance via service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership and key stakeholders, as well as negotiation skills in both internal and external settings
  • Experience designing and/or facilitating trainings
  • Comfort with fluid and evolving functional boundaries and priorities
