We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trading manager to join our Food Commercial team. They are responsible for maximising the financial performance of our food proposition, via a deep understanding of our customers. In this role, you will identify, size and prioritise opportunities to drive profitable growth, both via new product development and by optimising the performance of our existing food proposition.

You will challenge the status quo and take a “can if” approach to complex problems to remove roadblocks, partnering with multiple teams including food development, menu operations, product management, analytics, marketing and finance to ensure execution excellence.

The key metrics for the role would include menu conversion rate, order rate, AOV, food cost/ portion and GP/ portion.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyse menu performance including order rate, AOV and profitability; influencing our data teams on adjustments to the menu planning algorithm or additions to the AB testing pipeline as needed
  • Partner with Insights teams to define unmet consumer needs and identify new opportunities to drive profitable growth
  • Monitor consumer sentiment, the competitive landscape and trends in the wider food and grocery market
  • Partner with Product Management teams to identify opportunities to trade the menu on our website/ app
  • Identify seasonal trading opportunities to boost marketing activity 
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to develop financial models and business cases to support your analysis, enabling data-driven decision-making
  • Assess & validate new opportunities for feasibility, complexity and commercial viability
  • Present recommendations to senior business partners and influence decision-making
  • Ensure key initiatives are executed with excellence in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Who You Are: 

  • Experience in a fast-paced e-commerce/DTC environment
  • Advanced analytical skills, to create data-driven recommendations
  • Commercial Acumen - ability to balance the needs of the customer and financials 
  • Operational understanding: balancing the EBITDA potential of a proposition with the operational complexity required to get it to market
  • Sophisticated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative leadership & influencing skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A customer-centric mindset
  • Evidence of working comfortably in a highly ambiguous environment at pace
