Network Engineer
Praxis recently is a prime contract performing High Performance Computing (HPC) support for a restricted customer and its select mission partners. This contract provides scientific computing support, advanced computing capabilities, and interfacing IT infrastructures committed to enabling high fidelity, advanced analytics by delivering the highest quality technical capabilities and engineering support to its customers. The infrastructure includes state of the art hardware, software, and networks. The program supports an advanced computing infrastructure including supercomputing clusters, GPUs, high-speed storage, and high speed networking enabling high fidelity, advanced computing, data science, AI/ML and modeling. This environment provides unprecedented access to computational power and analytic throughput to solve the government’s most challenging computational and scientific problems.
What You Will Be Doing:
The Network Engineer provides administration & engineering support for HPC backbone and client facing networks. The Network Engineer works cross functionally with other HPC disciplines to plan and implement infrastructure advancements and improvements to accelerate the capabilities deliver an environment to drive innovation. The positions works with vendors to determine network hardware acquisitions for inclusion in the technical roadmap and deliver results to the users.
The work includes such tasks as the daily operations of network administrative, development & testing of networks; planning and documenting network options for advancing the environment; maintenance of network configurations; installation & troubleshooting of multiple peripherals and HPC components on networks in standard & tailored environments. The Network Engineer manages INFOSEC & COMSEC security requirements for the network add to the complexity of these positions. Positions at this level are responsible for performing moderately complex network designs; performing upgrades to limited segments of the network, & performing routine network operations O&M.
What You Need:
• Architecting, planning, installing, configuring, supporting, verifying network availability, and maintaining the user facing and service backbone networks and associated technologies (Software Defined Networking, Security Policy Enforcement, Network virtualization, Network automation, etc.).
• Performing tasks related to network provisioning and management.
• Troubleshooting and implementing solutions related to technical network issue.
• Familiarity with industry standard tools to perform network operations management.
• Experience with virtualization, VMWare and Citrix extremely desired.
• Strength in Windows and/or Linux operating systems to support the larger systems administration and architecture teams.
• Evaluating, maintaining and recommending solutions to optimize the networks.
• Proposing efficient and resilient and reliable data replication to maintain continuity of operations.
• Monitoring performance of networks maintain and enhance peak performance to compute and storage fabrics.
• Ensure the network is secure (firewalls, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, malware prevention, endpoint and network security, compliance monitoring).
• The Network Engineer at least a relevant B.S. with five years of professional experience and Cisco/Security certifications, or relevant Certifications with nine years of professional experience without a degree.
• Hands on experience with Cisco products required - switches, ISE security servers, DNA Center, Data, and Data Center Network Manager (DCMN).
• Hands on Experience with InfiniBand and Mellanox strongly desired.
Clearance:
Active TS/SCI with an appropriate polygraph is required to be considered for this role
Salary Range:
$132,918.00 - $287,470.00 (Annually)
