About the Role
Careem is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Finance team as the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting. This is a global role responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll do

Technical Accounting Expertise:
- Provide technical accounting guidance to relevant teams to ensure Careem's reporting aligns with IFRS and relevant GAAP.
- Formalize discussions in the form of Accounting Memos and/or Revenue trackers, incorporating input from key stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on the application and interpretation of IFRS and GAAP principles to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Align Accounting Memos with relevant stakeholders, including Uber, E&, and Auditors, before implementation.

Collaboration and Liaison:
- Maintain liaison with Uber & E& Technical Accounting teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP & IFRS impact on relevant business transactions.
- Act as a liaison between the Accounting team, Uber & E& Technical Accounting team, and Auditors for all Technical Accounting aspects.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders in Careem, Uber & E& to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Compliance and Reporting:
- Keep abreast of the latest IFRS/GAAP pronouncements to ensure Careem's accounting policies and financial statement templates comply with new adoptions and reporting needs.

Audit Scope:
- Lead Audit and Reviews with External Auditors, including Quarterly, Statutory and Consolidated Audits within the scope.
- Ensure the quality and consistency of audit work related to financial reporting, adhering to professional standards and internal policies.
- Prepare comprehensive and clear audit reports specifically addressing IFRS and GAAP compliance for presentation to executive management and the Audit Committee.

Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline Technical Accounting processes to support organizational growth.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical accounting and financial reporting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience in a global, complex organization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in the technology or ride-hailing industry is a plus.
