The Product and Payment Services Risk team at Visa helps to identify, assess, and prepare for any risks that may interfere with Visa’s objectives. The Senior Manager, Risk Business Partner is responsible for cultivating a strong risk management culture into Visa’s product and business units. This individual must be able to effectively aggregate and communicate the main enterprise risks of the Visa Business Solutions Business Unit. The individual will be regarded as a trusted business partner leveraging risk, payment product and business expertise.
The successful candidate must have -
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of risk management practices - experience in identifying, assessing, managing, and reporting risks.
- Business acumen, understanding of the payments industry, payment products and services, and of wider economic/competitive landscape.
- Understanding of business strategy, clients and their evolving requirements, with demonstrated problem-solving skills and excellent judgment.
- Demonstrated experience providing a comprehensive risk management point of view that helps inform business decisions (risk/reward tradeoff).
- Track record in synthesizing complex information to produce impactful management information and support informed executive decision making.
Candidate will be responsible for -
- Developing partnerships with First Line of Defense to identify, mitigate, monitor and report on risks impacting their business and product lines.
- Actively monitor and report on business and product line risk profiles, highlighting risks that warrant most attention, including providing executive risk reporting to Senior Management.
- Providing insight/monitoring improvements on the control environments.
- Driving and embedding risk culture throughout the product organization to further evolve Product Risk oversight at Visa.
- Working closely with Visa Risk Centers of Excellence to design and implement appropriate Risk programs commensurate with risk profile and Visa Risk Appetite e.g., Technology Risk, Third Party Risk, Substantive Compliance Area Monitoring and Testing, Data Privacy Oversight, Model Risk, Risk and Control Self-Assessment etc.
- Monitor the risk profiles of First Line (Product or Business Unit Leader) area of responsibility and drive reporting to applicable governance committees through the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to assist management in the early identification of risks and trends.
- Ensure appropriate alignment with other Policies, Frameworks, Processes and Procedures.
- Working seamlessly with a wide group of internal customers in a way that engenders mutual respect and consideration for the other party’s point of view.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and decision making of business decisions where there is disparity of views across Visa Functions and the Product and Business Unit.
- Work with product partners to understand the product roadmap and pipeline to identity initiatives that should be channeled through the New Business Initiative Assessment (NBIA) process.
- Provide guidance to initiative owners by bringing key Visa risk, product, payment, and technical expertise throughout the Product Lifecyle. Provide necessary challenge to and/or modifications to product constructs, if they create incremental risk to Visa.
- Work with key product partners to execute New Business Initiative Assessment (NBIAs) risk assessments and ensure key risks are identified, with proper mitigation and controls are in place prior to launch and/or identify key risks and controls that need to be monitored after launch.
- Implement best practices, training and education for business partners and risk coworkers on the effective development and management of business risks with first line Business Risk Champions.
- Identify and implement areas of improvement to drive operational excellence and deepen a more robust risk mindset with business partners.
Flex Work Arrangement - Hybrid Position - Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.
Basic Qualifications?
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD.
- An understanding of the payments industry and financial services, payment products and services, and of wider economic / competitive landscape.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication and facilitation skills, plus ability to work.

- Proven ability to develop strong relationships and work with all organizational levels.
- Advanced knowledge, skill and understanding in applying risk management practices specifically as it relates to Enterprise and Operational Risk Management (e.g., risk appetite, risk assessment, scoring, mitigation, acceptance).
- A clear thinker with the ability to be a self-starter with a knack for independent problem-solving, capable of finding solutions with minimal guidance and is adept at navigating challenges autonomously.
- Have a demonstrated history in developing and analyzing data, as well as creating and managing Tableau dashboards.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Tableau, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 120,900 to 175,400 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
