We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Risk and Compliance to join our fast-growing health tech company in the disability sector.

You’ll bring extensive experience within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and thrive in a lean, fast-paced startup environment. You’ll be both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator, driving our risk and compliance management initiatives with a practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach. In this role, you’ll ensure we not only meet but exceed regulatory standards, shaping and delivering a forward-looking strategy that keeps us ahead of the curve and positions us as a market leader.

The role

Drive Compliance Leadership:

  • Lead the strategic direction of our compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to NDIS, ISO27001, and all evolving regulatory standards.
  • Continuously shape and evolve our compliance frameworks to reflect best practices and emerging industry trends.
  • Maintain a future-focused view on regulatory changes, ensuring our internal policies are always up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Lead Risk Management Initiatives:

  • Take ownership of identifying and mitigating risks with advanced tools, leading the development of risk management strategies.
  • Direct comprehensive risk assessments and audits, ensuring any non-compliance is identified and swiftly addressed.
  • Proactively create and oversee corrective action plans that address both current and future risks.

Oversee NDIS Incident Resolution:

  • Lead investigations into compliance incidents with a focus on deep root cause analysis and the development of thorough remediation plans.
  • Centralise and manage communications with the NDIA, ensuring smooth, transparent, and efficient interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with teams to resolve incidents rapidly, with a focus on prevention and continuous improvement.

Champion Response to Regulatory Change and Governance:

  • Act as the primary advisor on all regulatory and compliance matters, offering expert insights on complex remediation issues.
  • Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape, attending industry forums and ensuring key insights are actioned across teams.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of regulatory changes, ensuring business operations continue seamlessly.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, working closely with stakeholders to ensure thorough preparation and support.

Collaborate Across the Organisation:

  • Partner with departments across the company, embedding compliance into product development, operations, and customer-facing initiatives.
  • Serve as the go-to leader for compliance across all teams, ensuring alignment with our broader business goals.
  • Take charge of cross-functional projects, ensuring that compliance is always a foundational component.

Lead Training and Development Initiatives:

  • Design and deliver high-impact compliance training programs that ensure every employee understands and fulfils their compliance obligations.
  • Regularly review and refresh training materials, ensuring they reflect the latest regulatory changes and company policies.

Audit Oversight and Reporting:

  • Oversee internal audits and ensure full compliance with external regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with customer-facing and tech teams to implement and enhance automated compliance monitoring systems, ensuring real-time insights and alerts.

 

About you

  • NDIS and Regulatory Expertise: Extensive experience with NDIS compliance, coupled with a deep understanding of evolving regulatory requirements. Proven ability to implement changes seamlessly while guiding teams through risk management strategies.

  • Hands-On Compliance Leadership in Startups: Strong capability to blend strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, lean startup environment. Experience aligning with NDIS, ISO27001, and adapting frameworks to meet best practices as the company scales.

  • Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, conducting thorough audits, and implementing corrective action plans to ensure long-term compliance and risk reduction.

  • Incident Resolution: Proven track record in investigating compliance incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and efficiently managing communications with regulatory bodies like the NDIA.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across departments, integrating compliance into business processes and leading cross-functional projects to ensure company-wide alignment.

  • Training and Audit Management: Experienced in designing and delivering compliance training programs, while overseeing both internal and external audits to meet regulatory reporting requirements.

 

We are looking for this role based in our Sydney HQ, however, we are open to the right candidate being remotely based within Australia.
