About the role

We are hiring for a Senior Manager, Regulatory Relations in Chime’s Legal and Compliance function. You will provide leadership and judgment to cultivate positive regulatory relationships, successfully manage regulatory examinations to achieve best outcome, and ensure Chime’s regulatory compliance framework continuously supports our regulatory obligations as we expand our products and services to serve the needs of millions of Chime members. This role will report to the Director of Business Compliance and Regulatory Response.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $146,610 and up to $207,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Develop and implement bank and regulatory examination and inquiry management process, collaborating with Legal, Bank Partnership, Corporate Affairs and other cross functional teams.
  • Implement and maintain regulatory engagement strategy plan in support of Chime’s business initiatives.
  • Maintain best practices for bank and regulatory examination / inspection management, including liaising with internal stakeholders and regulators through all phases of the process, and continuous enhancement of supporting tools.
  • Drive licensing strategies, including upkeep, maintenance, renewal and de novo license applications.
  • Provide oversight on all incoming or outgoing bank partner and regulatory inquiries to ensure regulatory expectations are met prior to submission.
  • Remain up-to-date on regulatory changes and landscapes, best practices and developments in the industry and ensure our regulatory examination and inquiry responses are both compliant and future focused.
  • Partner with the Compliance, Legal, Bank Partnership, Corporate Affair, and Risk team to address emerging trends, regulations and business objectives and advocate for Chime’s regulatory positions in front of regulators and bank partners.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • Knowledge of consumer banking, payment regulations, money transmission, scheme rules and consumer lending.
  • Experience with OCC, FFIEC and state regulatory supervision focused on consumer banking, money transmission, payments, and lending.
  • Experience applying for, maintaining, and managing state lending and MTL licenses.  Experience with federal FinCEN registration is a plus.
  • Have a proven track record of driving alignment across multiple levels of the organization with diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills, including leadership and consensus building while managing against tight deadlines.
  • Ability to credibly challenge solutions and ensure timely escalation of issues and concerns as and when appropriate.
  • Adaptable in unexpected situations, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Have 12+ years of work experience, including: Managing regulatory relationship and internal and external regulatory licensing/audits/inquiries /examinations in Financial Services or Fintech companies.
  • Serving as the senior point of contact responsible for regulatory inquiries and examinations representing the company.
  • Working within a high growth Fintech startup is desired.
