The Senior Manager, Product Engineering, will be responsible for providing planning, coordination and execution of HW NPI engineering team.  This individual will work closely with design engineering, internal manufacturing, purchasing, supply-chain and the contract manufacturer. This individual will lead NPI engineering team in planning, execution, and manage day-to-day actions for HW modules (lidar, computer, pods etc.)  with regard to their readiness for manufacturing, communicate with CM on each program and drive escalation regarding technical/engineering issues. You will also Partner with the development, systems, and safety technical leads to represent activities at the relevant cross-functional meetings.

In this role, you will

  • Pro-actively schedule meetings or discussions with cross-functional partners to help unblock the engineering teams for manufacturing readiness.
  • Act as a main representative between manufacturing and the development teams regarding all items which are related to the product development and CM and internal manufacturing.
  • Track and communicate manufacturing items/documentation  for our OEMs and customers
  • Drive all activities with each Hardware product for manufacturing readiness, provide risk assessments, and mitigation plans for each product 
  • Manage, train, develop team of Hardware process and product engineers
  • Support all activities for manufacturing Change Control Board for Hardware products from B sample on, and manage all change request schedule/execution from technical point of view
  • Work closely with supply chain management to establish timely execution of GSM tasks
  • Provide budget forecasts for Hardware NPI engineering team

Required Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of directly relatable experience 
  • Experience managing Product Engineering teams in short schedule development cycle
  • Experience in managing either mechanical engineering or electrical engineering teams
  • Experience with developing safety critical hardware, bonus points for experience in robotics, automotive, or the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Experience with launching new hardware products to market and managing hardware product life cycles.
  • Strong technical understanding of MFG processes,
  • Experience with task management tools such as Jira, Jira Tools, Confluence, etc

Desirable Qualifications

  • MS Degree 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing MFG/NPI engineering teams and development programs
  • Experience in a safety critical hardware industry (aerospace/defense, automotive, medical devices, etc)
  • Experience with the full product lifecycle (including development, verification, and market introduction)
  • Experience with AV or robotics
  • Experience and familiarity with the Agile development methodology (no certification is required)

The base salary range for this position is $177,000k - $284,000k.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
