Job Responsibilities:

  • As the Senior Manager for the One AI Platform, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of automotive AI integration. You will be responsible for creating a vision and translating the vision in concrete action for the future of automotive AI. Leading a dynamic team, obtaining and managing resources, and ensuring a successful global collaboration, you inspire people across the whole organization. Your role will encompass:
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to a heterogeneously set up development team with professionals working in parallel on embedded, cloud, data (-applications) problems. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and growth. Foster professional development by providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for skill enhancement. Identify and resolve roadblocks and manage expectations through effective communication. Support continuous development and improvement in all facets of team. Oversee, guide, and mentor team members, including training employees, documenting employee performance, and providing performance feedback.
  • Platform Development and Enablement: Drive the vision for our OneAI platform. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the platform overall and each of its components. Enable global teams to seamlessly integrate AI features into vehicles. Ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and performance. Support software architecture and implementation strategies. Ensure software solutions to meet stringent performance, compliance, and safety standards. Oversee day to day decisions on concrete implementation tasks, including algorithms and data structures. Oversee day to day operations of the platform and take measures to ensure operational quality. Responsible for the overall systems architecture vehicle to cloud. Ensure top performance, high quality software standards, and generation of reusable and extensible modules, models, and algorithms, including all required and surrounding processes. Ensure that the development processes are properly embedded within the vehicle development processes and make required adjustments.
  • Vision and Strategy Development: Develop a vision for an automotive AI platform in alignment with cross-functional (product-) teams and derive an actionable technical and business focused platform strategy. Define clear objectives, key results, and milestones in alignment with the company's overall goals and oversee their successful implementation.
  • Roadmap Creation: Help drive a clear product roadmap and based on the platform's technical evolution. Understand market trends, customer needs, and technological advancements and use these insights to steer the product and platform pipelines. Coordinate with the leadership team, team members, and stakeholders to define a clear capability roadmap for the OneAI platform. Clarify and prioritize these capabilities, ensure the on-time and on-budget implementation of those and oversee the translation into tangible tasks in a product backlog.
  • Global Efforts and Alignment: Guide, mentor and influence cross-functional teams across different global locations, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication. Lead efforts to deliver AI features that meet regional and global requirements. Own and lead global alignment of teams from different locations on feature development, share best practices, and ensure a unified approach.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate (including necessary escalations) platform updates, progress, and challenges to upper management. Own the alignment of the platform's direction with global business objectives. Ensure proper project steering and management (including reporting and communications).
  • Budget and Resource Management: Own the platform's budget, including resource allocation, cost management, and financial forecasting. Ensure efficient resource utilization to meet project and department goals.
  • International Travel: Global travel as needed to facilitate sharing and alignment of strategy and vision, in-person collaboration, conduct team meetings, and engage with stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent education with 10 years’ experience
  • 2-5 years of relevant prior leadership experience in a formal (E4 comparable) management function
  • Skilled people manager
  • Think and act strategically and translate vision into action
  • Can demonstrate responsibility of delivery of at least 3 end-customer facing products (at least one on a global scale)
  • Can demonstrate responsibility for operations of at least one global end-customer facing product for at least 2 years
  • Understands embedded, backend and app software development
  • Understands and can execute a Platform <-> Application development paradigm
  • Understands and demonstrated ability to work in heterogeneously set up development teams with professionals working in parallel on embedded, cloud, data (-applications) problems
  • Thinks and acts in teams
  • Demonstrated track record of data-driven decision making
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required
  • Proven experience in engineering leadership and managing cross-functional teams
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, platform development, and software engineering principles
  • Valid US Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership experience is a plus
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $201,400 - $256,800.
