ServiceNow is looking for a government affairs professional to join a global team for a position as Senior Manager, Global Government Affairs and Public Policy. Reporting to the Vice President, Head of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy, this individual will lead ServiceNow’s government affairs activities in the Middle East (primarily KSA and UAE).
This position will be based out of ServiceNow’s office in Riyadh, KSA, or in UAE.
Responsibilities will include:
- Building, strengthening, and managing relationships with government officials, regulators, and policymakers at all levels.
- Providing direct support and counsel to ServiceNow executives in their government engagements.
- Advancing policies and issues that impact the company’s bottom line.
- Engaging ServiceNow in local policymaking processes, including representing ServiceNow in industry coalitions and leading our trade association activities.
- Working closely with the Area Vice Presidents & General Managers in the Middle East and with their leadership teams, as well as other senior executives globally.
- Advising on current political, regulatory, and policy trends in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and across the Middle East including potential business implications.
- Communicating regularly with internal business line owners, sales and product teams to ensure awareness of potential risks and benefits of various policy, legislative, and regulatory initiatives.
- Working closely with teammates, consultants, public, and private sector teams to execute an ambitious government and policy engagement program.
- Monitoring and providing timely and insightful reports and analyses on developments and trends specific to the ServiceNow’s public policy priorities and regulatory issues which may impact the company’s bottom line. Such priorities could include a wide range of corporate issues including AI, tax, trade, cyber and data security, data sovereignty and data residency regulation, cloud, privacy, intellectual property, encryption, future of work, workforce development, procurement, and data processing, controlling, governance, and interoperability, and related regulation of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Leading discussions with industry coalitions and working groups and collaborating with subject matter experts across a variety of stakeholders, issues, and disciplines.
- Gaining a deep knowledge of ServiceNow’s business, including value delivered to our global public sector and commercial customers.
- Collaborating with country, regional, and global public and private sector teams spanning a variety of disciplines.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 5-10yrs experience in the public and private sector, including within Saudi government (or other governments in region), corporate government affairs, trade associations, and public policy
- Technology-related experience is a plus.
- Native-level Arabic and excellent English.
- Degree in political science, business, law, economics, or similar field; advanced degree is a plus.
- Ability to travel throughout Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, the region, and, on occasion, internationally.
- Existing relationships or the ability to build a network at all levels of government and business.
- Extensive leadership and organizational skills, and the proven ability to successfully execute policy, regulatory, and business objectives in the public policy arena.
- Strong writing and presentation skills including preparing briefing documents, analyses, policy and legislative recommendations, correspondence, requests for information, and other legislative documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including experience speaking at conferences, and attending and staffing official engagements, events, meetings, and/or travel.
- Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a willingness to “dream big.”
- Enthusiasm, interest, and/or background in technology issues, tax, trade, cybersecurity, and/or AI regulatory policy, as well as government efficiency and modernization, including around citizen services, auditability, and procurement.
- Deep integrity and excellent values that immediately generates respect and trust, internally and externally.
- Ability to present ServiceNow priorities to government officials and explain sophisticated regulatory and policy matters to senior executives across business units.
- Executive presence, coupled with strong communication, teamwork, and advocacy skills.
- Self-starter with a team-player mentality. Capable of handling multiple issues simultaneously.
- Some travel required in the region of UAE
