Position Overview:
Fluence is seeking a highly qualified Engineering Transformation Manager who will be tasked with leading strategic transformation initiatives within the Systems and Hardware (S&HW) Engineering organization, with a primary focus on enhancing Product Development and R&D capabilities. This role drives improvements in product development cycles, innovation processes, and engineering efficiencies, aligning them with business objectives to accelerate the delivery of cutting-edge products. The Engineering Transformation Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in product design, research, and development, ensuring that the organization remains agile, innovative, and competitive.
As the Senior Manager of Engineering Transformation at Fluence, you will:
- Transformation in Product Development and R&D:
- Lead the transformation of Fluence’s Product Development and R&D processes, ensuring that the engineering teams can bring products to market faster and more efficiently.
- Use Lean and Six Sigma to identify bottlenecks in the product development lifecycle and implement process improvements to enhance speed, quality, and innovation.
- Drive the integration of R&D and product development workflows, ensuring close collaboration between research, design, and engineering teams for seamless transitions from concept to production.
- Innovation and R&D Optimization:
- Implement methodologies that accelerate experimentation and prototyping, allowing for faster iteration and development of breakthrough technologies.
- Oversee the adoption of new tools, processes and techniques in product design, simulation, and testing to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of S&HW Engineering team.
- Agile Product Development:
- Champion Agile methodologies tailored for hardware and R&D environments, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in product development cycles.
- Implement iterative development approaches that allow for continuous feedback and quick pivots during the product design phase.
- Work with product management and engineering teams to ensure alignment between customer needs, market demands, and technical capabilities throughout the product development process.
- Process Optimization in S&HW Engineering:
- Analyze Fluence’s current engineering and R&D processes, identifying areas for improvement in terms of speed, quality, and collaboration.
- Implement state-of-the-art tools, processes and methodologies that enhance the productivity of product development teams.
- Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product innovation cycles, R&D efficiency, and time-to-market improvements.
- Cultural and Organizational Change in Product Development:
- Lead change management initiatives focused on fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, speed & agility, and cross-functional collaboration within Product Development and R&D teams.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to R&D and engineering leaders to build a high-performance culture that values rapid experimentation, risk-taking, and iterative improvement.
- Ensure that the engineering teams are continuously improving their processes and adopting new technologies to stay competitive in the marketplace.
- Risk Management and Quality Assurance in S&HW Engineering:
- Work with S&HW engineering team to identify technical risks early in the product development process and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee testing and validation processes to ensure that R&D outputs are robust, reliable, and meet product quality standards.
What will you bring to Fluence?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in process improvement, business transformation, and product development lifecycle.
- Proven track record of driving transformational change within engineering, particularly in product development and manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile methodologies, specifically for hardware development and R&D projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration between engineering, and other business units.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience in industries with fast-paced product development cycles (e.g., technology, manufacturing, energy).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex R&D challenges into actionable solutions.
- Familiarity with digital tools, simulations, and advanced design techniques that enhance R&D and product development efforts.
