You will run the execution of Visa’s risk policies and programs in the areas of Ecosystem Security and Integrity – across Issuers and Acquirers of the Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) region. These risk programs have the objectives of maintaining a resilient payment ecosystem and its integrity, by identifying and remediating high risk clients as well as by eliminating illegal and brand damaging merchants.
Visa has a specific program, Visa Integrity Risk Program (VIRP), aimed to maintain ecosystem integrity. The program framework proactively helps deter and detect utilization of Visa payment rails to facilitate illegal transactions and prevent financial and reputational damage to payment ecosystem and consumers. Visa designates merchants as high integrity risk when they operate in business types that are legal, but without proper controls, pose elevated risk to the payment ecosystem. This program ensures the integrity of the payments ecosystem in compliance with Visa’s rules and applicable laws.
The role involves coordination and execution of VIRP reviews and underwriting of Acquirers intended to operate in high integrity risk acceptance and support the improvement and execution of risk reviews during Licensing process. This role would also include frequent interactions with internal stakeholders including Risk Managers (RMs), Business Teams, and Global Risk counterparts. The role will provide opportunities to communicate with clients and other external stakeholders around risk program notifications. The role is part of the CEMEA Risk Strategy & Operations team, with a direct report to the Director, Visa Integrity Risk Program.
Responsibilities
- Own the execution and administration of VIRP in CEMEA, conducting the review of new and existing clients processing or requesting to process High Integrity Risk (HIR) transactions. The evaluation could be conducted based on desktop review or onsite audit of self-assessment questionnaires, Acquirer policies and procedures and sample review of merchant demonstrating various external due diligence information, monitoring, etc.
- Ensure proper tracking of clients, merchants, and Payment Facilitators (PF) in High Integrity Risk (HIR) segment and preparation of required reports and insights in a timely and accurate manner and coordinating the execution of the defined action plans with the Clients, Risk Managers, and Global Risk stakeholders.
- Manage and execute the High Integrity Risk (HIR) merchant registration requirements with support from Centre of Excellence (CoE) and Global Risk representatives.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on financial transactions including Non-Compliance Assessment (NCA) decisions and Billing files to ensure zero errors and timely submission.
- Track the execution by Client of imposed risk conditions within VIRP underwriting and Licensing and review process and manage associated next steps.
- Conduct deep-dives into Client Performance, perform trends investigation and prepare actionable insights for senior Risk and Business management.
- Support the process improvement related to licensing and payment channel enablement (Eg. Visa Direct used cases) activities and risk related review steps aimed to maintain and improve payment ecosystem environment.
- Track the progress of and support the execution of enhanced risk review on applications for Visa License received from Financial Institutions and FinTechs.
- Review and recommend proposed global changes to policies and programs, incorporating requirements of the region and recommending appropriate decisions.
- Identify opportunities for and carry out process simplification and automation.
- Prepare content and conduct training and awareness sessions to internal and external stakeholders relating to VIRP and other risk due diligence processes.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
- 5+ years of relevant risk management or operations experience in a high volumes process management environment having clearly laid out policies, controls, delegation matrix and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Minimum bachelor’s degree.
- Strong experience of managing merchant acquiring risk.
- Result-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent project management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Good knowledge and practical experience in performing data analysis, data visualization and automation of data extraction & further management.
- Should have good working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications, especially in terms of handling large volumes of data.
