What's it all about?
The Sr Manager Data Governance will be part of an innovative Business Intelligence and Sales Tools Team within the VAS COO organization. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance strategy to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization. This role will focus on business intelligence functions and will play a critical role in supporting our sales-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, data quality, and data policies, with the ability to build and lead a data governance practice from scratch.
What we expect of you, day to day.
- Develop and Implement Data Governance Framework: Establish and maintain a data governance framework that includes policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Data Quality Management: Define and implement data quality metrics, monitoring processes, and improvement initiatives to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Data Policies and Standards: Develop and enforce data policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistent data management practices across the organization.
- Data Dictionary: Implement and maintain a formal data dictionary to standardize data definitions and ensure a common understanding of data across the organization.
- Business Intelligence Utilization: Ensure that data is effectively used for business intelligence purposes, ensuring alignment across data sources, field definitions, calculations and use cases.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to understand data needs, address data-related issues, and promote data governance best practices.
- Data Stewardship: Identify and train data stewards within various departments to ensure data governance practices are followed and maintained.
- Data Governance Tools and Technologies: Evaluate and implement data governance tools and technologies to support data governance initiatives.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and manage data-related risks.
- Reporting and Analytics: Provide regular reports on data governance activities, data quality metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
- Foster a Data-Savvy Culture: Promote a data-savvy culture within the organization by educating and empowering employees to understand and utilize data effectively.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess and improve data governance practices to adapt to changing business needs and industry trends.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
What we're after...
- •Bachelor's degree in information management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in data governance, data quality management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and data policies.
- Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of relevant data protection regulations and compliance requirements.
