About the Job

We are seeking an ambitious, self-initiated, and product-minded Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a track record of AI excellence at top technology ventures to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will originate, lead, and deliver on critical, 0-to-1 AI projects across the company while maintaining the highest level of communicative and operational excellence in your relationships with your fellow leaders..

You will report to the Head of Technology at Redesign Health and will work hours highly overlapping with Eastern Time. Please note this is a contact to hire position.

What You’ll Do

Obsess over ways to transform our global venture-building process. You will design and build AI-powered technologies to unlock the world’s densest and highest-impact repository of healthtech venture knowledge. You will pilot AI initiatives, stay abreast of the latest research in LLMs, build proofs of concept and scaled products alike, and constantly raise the bar on the level of technical sophistication that we embody and offer to our founders.Deliver technical value across the organization. You will deeply understand the hardest parts of building global health technology ventures at scale and will lead projects to supercharge our initiatives in areas from deep health domain research to founder sourcing and assessment.Dream like an early startup engineer…but build with the institutional resources of an established player. You will build many (many) POCs, test hypotheses about the tools you build, and place informed bets about which problems need lower- or higher-fidelity solutions. You will be a walking, talking Center of AI Excellence and will credibly opine on what can be built, bought, or integrated.

What You’ll Need 

Outstanding people come from all different backgrounds, and we’re always interested in meeting talented individuals! Therefore, we do not require any particular credential or experience. That said, most successful candidates will fit the following profile, which reflects both our technical needs and team culture:

  • You hold a graduate degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field from an IIT, or were in the top decile of your class at a major global university.
  • You have spent 6+ years in a senior technical role at a major venture-backed startup. Bonus points if you have previously founded your own startup and built a product from 0-1.
  • You’ve published in high-impact AI/ML conferences/journals or have made significant contributions to major open-source technologies (e.g., with tens of thousands of GitHub Stars).
  • Your code is in production at global organizations or is used by thousands or millions of individuals
  • You are a technical polyglot who has written code against hundreds of RESTful APIs and can quickly get up to speed with – and be productive on – any data model.
  • You have architected knowledge management systems and have built search, retrieval, and/or chat functionality over hundreds of gigabytes of multimodal data.
  • You are an expert in at least one modern language like Python and have written and/or reviewed millions of lines of code.
  • You have an expert understanding of how LLMs work and have built multi-step agentic workflows more complicated than basic RAG.
  • You are proficient in and have built apps on the modern data stack, for example AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Flask, Pydantic, Pytorch, Tensorflow, LangChain, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, and others. LLMs are a crucial part of your development environment.

  • You have thrived in a group of passionate, talented, diverse, and low-ego individuals because these kinds of people love working with you.
  • You abhor the phrase “that’s not my job” because you take extreme ownership of your outcomes. No task is above, beneath, too easy, or too hard for you.
  • You are deeply motivated to transform global healthcare and see technology as the true calling through which you can better the world.
  • You are looking for something to commit deeply to. This role has an incredible growth potential alongside Redesign and its operating companies as we scale to be the world’s foremost healthtech venture builder. This role is not suitable for someone who has a side-hustle or part-time job.
