Role: Senior Machine Learning Engineer - 9 months fixed term contract
Location: Hybrid - Shepherds Bush, London.
Bento is a team of 19 people total, of which 16 are in tech. You will be joining our Zesters squad, who own Bento’s data pipeline and related AI products. The Zesters are building a brand new enterprise-grade SaaS-ready suite of data products, and we need the expertise of a machine learning engineer to both help with designing our data pipeline as well as deploying and tuning AI models against our merchant’s data.
Bento tech’s core challenge is to design our platform to scale to many merchants without duplicating work for each merchant, while also providing effective solutions to each merchant’s unique challenges and data contours. Success in this role means delivering a robust, scalable set of data science products that deliver tangible value to our merchants, while also preparing to scale the business non-linearly in 2025.
This role is based in Gousto’s head office in Shepherd’s Bush, London. The Bento team has a mandatory office day of Tuesday, with some members of the team optionally coming into the office on Wednesday or Thursday also. You will report to the engineering manager of the Zesters squad, with your skip level manager being Bento’s CTO.
What you’ll do
- Build, tune, and deploy AI algorithms to Bento merchants (focus areas will be on customer churn prediction and on-screen recovery for cancelling customers)
- Help design and build the data pipeline that feeds our AI algorithms, including raw ingest from upstream data sources as well as model feature generation
- Write internal documentation and runbooks for our AI algorithms
- Aid the Zesters engineering manager in scoping, prioritising, and planning work for the squad, especially related to algorithms
- Provide machine learning expertise and guidance to Bento engineers and data engineers
- Provide expertise and advice to Bento’s product managers on the best way to design our products to both deliver value to our merchants needs and scale Bento’s business
Who You Are
- Expertise at the senior level in deploying and tuning algorithms, especially as relates to classification and prediction use cases. Familiar with Python libraries like Numpy, Scikit-Learn, and Keras
- Understanding of statistical concepts, particularly in relation to A/B testing
- Understanding of CI/CD best practices, preferably with experience using CircleCI, to maintain efficient and reliable code deployments as well as knowledge of Poetry for version management
- Expertise at the senior level with developing feature stores for algorithms
- Experience working with data pipelines, especially in Python and SQL
- (Optional, but preferred) Experience working with Databricks, from creating pipelines and using data lakehouse technologies (DLTs) to deploying and monitoring models using Databricks functionalities such as Model Registry and MLflow
