Obelisk is an AI lab that draws on insights from neuroscience and the brain's architecture to develop a new machine learning framework. This involves making changes to neural representation, learning rules, and internal neural dynamics.
We are looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to assist in the development of this model, and to take the insights we learn from modeling and bring them into mainstream ML frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch.
Our models are mostly agent-based, in a similar format to what's typically seen in a Reinforcement Learning model.
We believe that fundamental changes to the basics of ML are key to making breakthroughs in intelligence. This is an opportunity to develop the next generation of tooling and to create safe, socially aligned AGI through diverse solutions.
An ideal candidate would have experience with cognitive or neuroscience with ideas to bring insights from the brain into the domain of machine learning, but this is not strictly required.
You will
- Work with engineers and researchers to create a roadmap for research
- Bring best practices from modern ML frameworks into the development of a new one
- Bring new insights and mechanisms from neuroscience research into practical ml application
- Implement architectural improvements in an existing ML framework
- Have a great deal of responsibility for the outcome of this endeavor
- Help architect and design the systems we build
- Implement complex and interesting systems with a focus on scalability, maintainability, correctness and performance. Examples of the types of systems that we are building include; complex models of neural architecture, training environments for our agents, a distributed framework for evolving our model, and scaling up our model
- Contribute to the technical and cultural foundations of our high caliber engineering team
You are
- Self-motivated 5+ years of real-world experience developing software
- Experienced with applying machine learning and/or deep learning.
- Experienced with Reinforcement Learning Models
- Some familiarity with cognitive neuroscience but super deep knowledge isn’t required
- Entrepreneurial minded. Have scaled unique technology or products and thrive in a high paced environment
- Stellar communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions
- Experience building components that are reusable, extensible, and modular
- Enthusiastic for working on a small, growing team in a startup environment
- Familiarity with Go a plus
- Excited about the potential of AGI
